Not a new recruit and I don't plan on opening a guild (soon, anyway), but still -

Can players demote other players of their own rank? If not, can GMs ever be demoted?

ranks within rank

The game invisibly maintains rank within each rank, based on when the guild member was promoted to that rank. For example, if you're promoted to Officer, and later I'm promoted to Officer, then you outrank me, even though we're both Officer.

In that hypothetical scenario, I think that you can demote me, but I'm not 100% sure of that.

No one can demote the guild founder, because s/he became Guild Master before anyone else. If s/he wants to demote to Officer, then s/he must leave the guild, get re-invited, and get re-promoted up to Officer. And at that point all other Officers will outrank him/her. And if s/he re-promotes to Guild Master, then the other Guild Masters will outrank him/her.

To confirm what Bopp said - yes, Officers can demote eachother, just like how GMs can. It depends on seniority.

yeah, seniority

Yeah, "seniority within rank" is a better way to say it than "rank within rank".
