i played this game like 2 years ago on steam and my account on it is terrible and jumbled up so i wanted to start fresh on a new account. is there a standalone or something other than steam or the browser i can use to launch this game quickly. thanks.

also i hear that you cant use microphones in browser mode which i dont care about, but can you still hear other people on voice chat?

Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

Well....why don't use just delete your characters? You won't have anything and it allows you to start completely fresh. I wouldn't waste your time looking for other things. If you really want to start fresh, and I don't know how much more fresh you can get with starting new by deleting all your characters, you can try Kongregate, that's a browser type thing I believe. You won't be able to hear people with voice chat since it is a steam exclusive thing.

download stand-alone client

See the "Play" tab at the top of this web page? Click on it. It takes you to another web page, that tries to load Spiral Knights. But on that page is a link that says something like "Having trouble? Try downloading the stand-alone client". Click on that to download the stand-alone client. Once you do this, you never need to open your web browser again.

The stand-alone client has no voice-chatting feature at all. You can't talk, and you can't hear. Of course, you can always run an unrelated chat program alongside Spiral Knights. But that requires some effort in getting people added as contacts, etc.

here

Here is the exact text from the Play page:

"If you experience technical difficulties, click here to download the game instead."

Click on "click here". Do you see what I mean now?

The play link actually goes to the Steam page when logged in under a Steam account.

So you'd have to go directly here:

(or just log out first)

stand-alone-client and extra.txt files

As described already, you can download the standalone client from the spiralknights homepage.

after downloaded it, you can create an extra.txt file to log in with accounts whose usually would require an open browser - so you could still play your old chars without an annoying browser necessarily beeing open.

this topic describes it step by step even for those who have not much knowledge about these kind of things:
