I just figured out that you don't have to type in entire commands - Only part. For example, the /clear command will be triggered if you just enter /cle. However, if the part entered is used in multiple commands, it won't work - For example, /cl will result in "Command not specific enough, did you mean "/clap /clear"?"

You also have to start from the beginning of a command - /ear won't activate the /clear command.

Yeah.

This has been around for the longest time. Same reason /g starts guild chat, and /r starts the /respond command.

Very nice feature to have in the game IMO.

@Fangel

Actually, /g and /r don't work because of that - /g by itself would result in the game saying "Command not specific enough, did you mean "/gaze /giggle /goodbye /grin /guild"?"

Also, for /r I usually just tap the R key without pressing enter or /, then type my message (R on its own starts the chat with the /tell last-person-who-sent-a-tell command).

But still, it is useful.

Eagles may soar, but weasles don't get sucked into jet engines.

Actually, /g DOES work. This has been know for the longest time like Fangel said, it's really nothing major, and nothing to post about. Have you tried /g yet? If it doesn't work for you, it might be key bindings or something, not sure, but it works fine for me, and a majority of others, because it seems it works for Fangel, and I can name a few, and /r also works for me as well.

I think I should have said that differently.

I mean, /g doesn't work because of this feature, but because /g is actually a command. If it wasn't a normal command, then the game would say "Command not specific enough, did you mean "/gaze /giggle /goodbye /grin /guild"?" instead of the command working.

/r is also automatically parsed and replaced by the game to /w [lastreceiveduser]
It is not a shortcut, but an alternate spelling for the /respond command. (Usage: /respond|reply|r message)
Just like how /g is not a shortcut, but an alternate spelling for the /guild command. (Usage: /guild|g|guildchat message)

There is one line though that can mean two different commands, and still functions, that being /o
Usage: /officer|o message
Here it is a alternate commandline for /officer

Usage: /joy|overjoyed|yay [player name]
And when you do not have access to the /officer command, it reverts back to being a shortcut for /overjoyed. There is no conflict because according to your client, the command /officer does not exist.
