Instead of adding Spikes to jelly. Fix the lag spikes.

Seriously, it took us awhile to get used to blocking a lot earlier, attacking, walking and every action in this game with the lag. Then when we finally got over it you just had to add more stuff which misuse the lag, ending up in wasting revives.

I dont mind the new jelly spikes, but fix the lag spikes before going on with new stuff. If the base is not stable enough, whatever you add on top will just topple down like a unstable jenga tower

I never have lag other than

I never have lag other than the one caused by my own local network (for example when my brother uses his computer) so it's not a global game problem that affects everyone. If you live in the other side of the world, your IPS has you connected to poor routers, or anything like that, then it's not something that can just be "fixed" from one day to another.

There was a lag problem

There was a lag problem involving uploading huge UDP packets, but I believe that has been patched as of several weeks ago.

Try forwarding your ports.

@novareid

I haven't seen what ports are used by SK. Mind giving those up? I don't have lag issues unless someone else is using torrents on my WiFi, but it'd be nice to reduce my latency as much as possible.

Forwarding ports wont help

Forwarding ports wont help your constant high latency at all. It can lower the lag spikes though.

@jooozek

So it won't help at all? :P
Because I don't have lag spikes.

lag can be caused by anywhere

lag can be caused by anywhere on the network between you and the game servers, in either direction....it can even be outside of OOO's control

This game's netcode needs to

This game's netcode needs to improve, regardless if it's played on lag scenarios or not.

that may be true but how much

that may be true but how much money would that take? as far as OOO is concerned SK is playable as is they may not want the additional expenses

@Monkey Actually with a bad

@Monkey

Actually with a bad netcode PvP can became virtually unplayable pretty easily. Netcode is something basic in PvP.

Even without taking PvP into account SK's netcode is subpar and needs to be improved, in order to improve the experience = more players more mouth to mouth advertisement = more money = win win win win everyone wins.

Even on a solid 30Mbps cable

Even on a solid 30Mbps cable connection and a good computer I get the odd lag spike/graphical lag maybe even, usually when there's a ton of stuff on the screen.

My comp ain't half bad, quad core, 4 gigs of ram etc. it runs most of the best games on the market on high-max with the exceptions of the maybe the original Crysis and Metro 2033.

Being able to load the game

Being able to load the game has even become an issue for me. The game locks up pretty bad sometimes for the past day or 2. At the character select screen my character just continues walking and it says "Heading into town..." indefinitely. Sometimes it's smooth, other times I can't get on at all and people later tell me I just continuously log in and out on friends / guild list. Not to mention.. the forums are considerably more laggy then normal. Would be nice to get some sort of response on this topic.

What I hate about SKs

What I hate about SKs netcode:
A) walking into 1 direction, changing direction, alongside a biohazard, getting warped into the biohazard and taking damage because in the first walking movement the server actually figured I moved slightly further/less, and couldnt find a way to tell my client before I walked into something damaging.
B) Projectiles and meele attacks are aimed based on server position, displayed based on client position, but server position is actually noticably further ahead than client position. Really off putting somehow.

Not sure how the guys at bloodline champions do their stuff, but these things work better there. well movement can feel slightly sluggish at high ping (I think it takes the ping time to register change of movement direction) but it's reliable and matched with all projectiles/attacks on screen. (they probably also do some elaborate stuff to cover up laggy feel and to make stopping movement not seem to lag; as it stands it's really responsive)

I agree

I have to agree with point B strongly. Especially during the first levels of Vanaduke you get those large wheels rolling down. I get hit when I just see the wheels, unable to dodge. It has been very frustrating on top of not getting any heat, so I never do vanaduke run anymore.

Gonna try to do those port

Gonna try to do those port forwards to see if they make a difference, but does anyone know what else to add besides the IP? There's some settings I'm not sure if I have to consider like TCP vs UDP, or WAN begin and end ports.

Weird

Yeah my connection is great 95% of the time, but sometimes it gets a weird lag spike. Can't explain why

Well...

I live in the Philippines, and my connection is actually quite good, despite most of my stuff being a couple of years old already. I only lag when I am loading something on the Web then both SK and said thing go reeeaaalllll sssllllloooowwwww.....or when a large amount of mobs spawn. No problem with small groups of spawns.
