I know, I have been posting a lot of new things, but I like to have new things in Spiral Knights.
This will be about 2 new statuses, one of witch has already been discussed over a sword, on another of my posts, and that one is Nature. The other status effect has not been discussed, (that I know of,) and this will probably be my first post about it. This status is Water.

Water: Slows down the opponent, (less than confusion does,) while slowly drowning, (damaging,) it, less than fire. So it is like Shock, in the way that it does a lesser version than 2 other status effects.

Nature: The same as Water, hence the title of this post: Water vs. Nature. Which do you prefer? Which do you choose? The title of Water or the title of Nature? (I personally think Nature is better, because I have an idea for a sword for it.)

So, I was thinking, if one is chosen, do you have ideas for the other, so that we can still have both? Please post your answer.

P.S. I would appreciate it if you comment on which you prefer, then follow up with an idea for the other one. If you have feedback, please inform me.

I prefer water. You should

I prefer water.

You should say what confusion is, even if it was mentioned in another post. You could post a link to where confusion was mentioned.

Q

So is Water/Nature the middle ground between fire and shock (with low speed reduction but reliable-ish damage) or the middle ground between shock and stun (with powerful speed reduction but little damage dealt)?

Combination

It is a stun/fire combination. So, what do you choose?

Since you apparently want 'Nature' so much, I'll try and think of something.
First goal - shock is annoying, but can be negated by using your shield. At least the damage. So - this one shouldn't be annoying, as in shock.

I just got an idea. How about players not being able to switch weapons and use their shield? No speed decrease. The vines could stay. The player can still turn. This effect might last a bit longer than the others, but a player can break free with a few attacks?
And- sorry to say this- Nature just doesn't sound like the name of a status effect. What would make a lot more sense would be something like ''Trap''.
Currently trying to find middle grounds between Nature and Trap.

But- that was me just trying to add on to the idea pile. A stun/fire combination would be great.

Stun/Fire sounds like a direct competitor to shock if not almost the same thing. Except you trade the spread damage of shock for more predictable enemy movement reduction......

I wanted it to be called Nature, (or something like that,) because if you look at another one of my posts, you will see a sword I intended to deal Nature. That is why I wanted Nature. But, I love the idea, but how would it work if YOU hit the MONSTERS? Some monsters only have one attack, e.g. Lumbers.

For monsters, it would be something like a weak version of stun, but it's not their movement. It's the speed they turn at. So you can run in circles around them.

=================================================================================================================
Edit:
I think I just got the most fitting idea. Thorned vines that raise you above ground, so you are unable to be hit by other monsters. You gradually take damage. Like the freeze effect, knights can free others by an attack. However, this would definitely have to be more than one attack. I think 3 attacks is fitting, 5 if with a handgun. 1 if with a bomb.
Animation- reskin of those Apocrean tentacles/vines/whateverthehelltheyare?
The sword's charge attack would be the brandish type, except vines get launched out from under the ground.
Perhaps there could be more swords and the giant lichen colony attack could be used with a calibur type charge attack?

I think this shouldn't even be a status effect. Maybe they give you poison along with it, but vines being a stat really doesn't make sense for me.

Well, I think that it sounds a bit too good... Also, it would look rather weird... And please do not swear. (whateverthe****theyare.) But thank you for commenting! please bring many more!!

@everyone

Stun fufills the exact things you want. Turn speed and movement are heavily hindered by stun there, cinderella. Also, the word "Hell" isn't legitimately offensive. It might be a swear word to some people, but it's only offensive in professional contexts. Also, none of us will take your suggestion seriously until someone like bopp/fangel/fehzor/etc. appreciate this suggestion. (holy and blandaxt are VERY constructive)

MFW apparently I'm not constructive to suggestions.

I'm with Holy-Nightmare on this one though. Seems as if this status doesn't add anything new to the table. The apocrean grabby-hands are a reskin of freeze just without the status resistance available, however that's bound to an event.

Names such as "Nature" or "Water" do not sound like a status affect. I understand where you're coming from in terms of wording, because the wording in-game sounds similar (Fire, Poison, Shock), however the names you give are similar in feel to renaming shock "Lightning". However, as of right now, a name is not very important.

Holding an enemy in place is currently used by two statuses, sleep and freeze. Messing with movement is currently used by two statues, shock and stun. Damaging the player over time is currently used by two statuses, fire and shock. Therefore, adding a third status for all categories jumbled together is not the best of statuses. If you wanted to, you could instead make this closer to curse, in that a single item in your inventory is "barbed", and hurts you if you use it. The difference between this one and curse would be that the barb would cycle through your items, so your weapon in slot 1 may be "barbed", and 5 seconds later your weapon in slot 2 will be barbed. This carries over into your item belt too, so you can have both weapons not barbed, but it may cycle back into them.

The icon for this status would be a brown triangle pointing down with smaller pointed triangles coming off of it (3 max, on the sides), and a green background. When your current weapon is barbed, you will get that icon over your head, and when it switches to another weapon, the icon will become mostly transparent, becoming fully opaque again once it cycles back to that weapon, or disappearing with a poof when the status wears off.

Now that I've gotten to the end of my reimagining the status, I would give it the name "Prickle", "Thorn", or "Barbed". This is still a nature theme without being a new status in a flood of similar statuses, and sounding more dangerous.

...

@Flight-Beetle: First of all, it is an offensive word to me. And that is not very nice, you are saying you do not take me seriously, but whatever. If you do take it seriously, and you are just talking about OTHER people, sorry for misunderstanding.

@Fangel: Thank you for your feedback. I like "Barbed", and the idea. So, you prefer Water? (Or Drown, or something like that.)

@trymal and his water

I'm not sure spiral knights has seas for water to make sense but it could incapacitate things from being able to attack.

Thanks for the feedback!

Thank you for the feedback. I do not know what the animation for water would be. It could be like poison but blue though.

Eh

I came up with the barbed idea because both "nature" and "water" statuses just seem dull, repetitive, and necessary. At the very least "barbed" wouldn't be a reskin of other statuses that we have enough of (mettling with movement, damage over time), but not add any game-breaking difficulty to a status.

So in other words, I dislike both "nature" and "water" simply because their roles are already fulfilled. I prefer neither.

Water

What would you rename Water? Wave? Drown? Drain perhaps. But, OK. So you do not like the idea. That is fine. So, all in all, you don't think this is a good idea? Does anyone else have suggestions?

Bad name choice

I would name the water element "Waterlogged" and the nature "Vicious Vines" but I honestly don't think we need a new status anyway
