Hello there. I've been in this Knight business for a while, but I'm kinda new to posting in Spiral Knights Forums, so hi.

Anyway, do you know how in some games, you have monsters who split into more smaller monsters? Yeah... From what I know, Spiral Knights has a distinct lack of those, so I'll just propose a suggestion for one here, y'know, for diversity and challenge...

Maybe make it like, uh, a Slime monster called the Mitosis Lichen, a variant of the Lichen series that divides instead of combining. It would have the appearence of a Lichen Colony of a different colour to tell them apart from the others, or at least a bigger Lichen with multiple cores and spikes. Whenever a Mitosis Lichen divides, the daughter Lichen will have spikes too, unlike regular Tier 2 & 3 Lichen. It could divide either by splitting voluntarily or upon "death". For the former, the Mitosis Lichen cannot divide while frozen, while for the latter, it won't drop anything until the smallest pieces are killed. Furthermore, to amp things up, a bigger, badder Mitosis Lichen who has greater division potential. Either death by a powerhouse of a goo pile or strength in numbers if you're not careful.

Apologies in advance for any disagreement.

I don't know.... one of my current complaints with lichens and other transforming monsters is that they regain ALL their HP when they change. I would want this fixed first before this enemy gets added.

Also what would trigger this dividing behavior? Status perhaps?
This would mean that knights can intentionally divide them if they know the trick.

I think these should have 4 different forms -

One would look similar to a glop drop, but attack like a lichen. It would have low HP like a normal glop drop. These wouldn't spawn normally in this form. They don't split into anything and give drops

The second one would be the most common, looking and attacking similar to lichens made from 3 base size ones. It would also have the same HP as a size 3 lichen. These would split into 3 of the first form.

The third would look and attack like a lichen colony when it has 6 lichens in it. They would split into 2 of the second form.

The fourth one would look and act like a giant lichen colony with 12 lichens. It would split into to of the third form.

I think they should split when killed.

Of course, the giants would be very rare, since they're much stronger than normal giant colonies.

I also think they should drop crowns/heat/materials/other stuff after every "kill", no matter what form they're in, but they'll give very little so you'll only get all of their drops if you kill every one, but can still get some of them if you don't.

totally agree... but we need to make sure it would be coherent with the rest of the game, and If there can be another family that could use it instead of likens... they merge, we need something that divides
