There's no bracket! Here's how it works...
Joining the Tournament
1. To join the tournament you must find a willing opponent and play a "qualifying match" against them. See MATCH DESCRIPTION section for details.
2. One of you must then submit a video of the match to this thread.* Video quality should be good enough to identify player names in chat box. The video must include entire fights with no cuts, and everything must be in real time. Bad video means redo entire match.
3. Once you have a valid video of your fight on this thread, your name is added to the roster.
4. If you lost the "qualifying match", you get 1 point.
5. If you won, you get 3 points if your opponent is not on the roster. If your opponent is already on the roster, you get half your opponent's points (rounded up).
*If neither of you is capable of making a video, you can find a third person to video the match and upload it.
Roster and Point System
Once you're on the roster, it is in your best interest to continue playing matches. One video per match is still required.
1. If you win against someone already on the roster, you gain half their points (rounded up).
2. If you win against someone not on the roster, you gain 1 point.
3. If you lose against someone already on the roster, you lose half your points (rounded up).
4. If you lose against someone not on the roster, you lose 2 points.
5. Players that lose all their points are permanently eliminated from the roster.
6. You can challenge and rematch people, but they are technically not obligated to fight you. Feel free to leave public challenges on this thread!
7. On New Year's Day 2016, the person with the most points will be declared the winner.
8. In the case of a tie with fewer than 4 people, each person will have to play a match against every one of the others within a reasonable time period TBD.
9. In the case of a tie with 4 or more people, everyone shares the winnings. This is to encourage people to play each other rather than sit on earned points.
Updates are made in chronological order of the video links posted to this thread. So make sure you post your videos in a timely manner.
Match Description
Each match consists of three fights: A,B,C, to be played in that order. The first person to win two fights is the winner of the match.
The objective of each fight is to take/keep control of a pre-chosen point. A center point would make things perfectly fair, but it doesn't matter as long as both players are fine with it.
Fight A - Capture point starts under Player A's color. Player B wins if they capture (not neutralize) the point in less than 2 minutes. Otherwise Player A wins.
Fight B - Capture point starts under Player B's color. Player A wins if they capture (not neutralize) the point in less than 2 minutes. Otherwise Player B wins.
Fight C - Capture point starts perfectly neutral. Whoever captures the point wins. If nobody has control of the point after 2 minutes, the winner is determined by the color bias of the point.
The following rules apply to each fight:
0. Only the two players partaking in the match is allowed to participate.
1. The two players must publicly say what fight they are doing for this tournament (saying " FIGHT [letter]" is sufficient). They must also agree on a mechanism for publicly starting the fight*.
2. Pulsars are banned. Other than that, there are no limitations to what you can use (UVs, AT, etc.).
3. Players are allowed to change gear/heal/etc. whenever during a fight, but at their own risk (fight won't pause for them).
4. Players are allowed to make full use of the environment, but not other knights.
The three fights do not have to take place in one Lockdown game and can be uploaded as separate videos. However, they are evaluated in ABC order, and the roster is not updated until all recordings are made available.
*I will be timing the fight via the video, so I need to know when it officially begins.
Qualifying Match
A qualifying match consists of single Fight C. A qualifying match can only be played if at least one of the players is not already on the roster.
Prize(s)
I'm not very rich, but I currently have ~2k Krogmo coins. They will be saved, and I will probably play some more LD in the meantime.
The winner will receive however many Enamorocks/Mod Calibrators they want to purchase with my Krogmo coins. I should also be able to dig up 50k crowns for the runner-up.
The prizes may increase, but I won't make any guarantees for now. If anyone wants to make a donation, that'll be cool too.
Other Notes
- Each person counts as one entity. You can use different knights, but you must make it very clear you are the same person. Not doing so is considered cheating.
- Cheating = instant elimination.
- If you have an issue with a fight/match that might not show up on video, complain on this thread ASAP. Complaints made after the video is posted will be ignored.
