Remininsce about how vanguards mistreated you for me.
I had people think I was incompetent even in missions my own rank. What about you? ( i always play on elitemode )
Stories of being knight elite
I kind of got to Vanguard as soon as the rank came out and have no idea how it feels to be a "knight elite". Nor do I really recall more experienced players ever bullying me though. I mean they had expectations of me but they weren't wrong with those expectations.
I had people think I was incompetent even in missions my own rank.
Was it because...you were playing incompetently?
Sometimes people pre-judge you, which is unfair. At other times they simply judge you, sometimes accurately. So far I've seen no obvious mistreatment in your story.
Like Fehzor, I became Vanguard as soon as missions were released, because I'd already done everything in the game. But I enjoy playing with novice players. But some are more enjoyable than others. They should revive themselves, avoid chatting with their guilds in the middle of a run, avoid lecturing me on how great antiguas are, etc.
"They should revive themselves, avoid chatting with their guilds in the middle of a run, avoid lecturing me on how great antiguas are, etc."
Oh god you made me laugh for like 5 minutes with this what is wrong with me.. I mean I can see some merit in the antiguas but they're still just kind of not top notch like other guns are. What they do is unique and neat but not really that big of a deal..
Anyway I had this image of some knight using argent peacemaker on a run with you and you're like "Put that crap away and use nova driver like a real knight before you get carpal tunnel." and they get all sad and try to tell you it fits their play style but you won't have it and ignore them smugly. And I do know you're considerably nicer than that :P
Yeah, I prefer alchemers over antiguas, but antiguas are not terrible, and I don't care whether teammates use them. It's more like:
"Can you help me beat the Royal Jelly? I need 5 more Jelly Gems to get an Antigua, so that I can get Sentenza...Yuck, why are you using Umbra Driver? You should get a Sentenza like me."
Then I go out of my way to slaughter everything before they can get to it. So I take crazy risks and end up dying. And then I get to enjoy a lecture on how I die too much, especially for someone with 5-star gear, even though the monsters are buffed because of my gear [sic]. And so on in that fashion.
I wanted to go play around in the Advanced Training Hall and found a group of vanguards there.
They started saying stuff like "U R A NUB" and similar things. "UR WEP IS WEAK" "Lol noob"
I was fine with that... At first.
Then they actually tried and prevented me from actually doing stuff there.
I want to throw pots? They pick up the pots and don't drop them, preventing them from respawning.
I want to kill shufflebots? They run as fast as they can to the battle areas and kill all of them as soon as they respawn, so I can't even attack once.
I want to throw vials? They run over there and pick up every vial there so I can't take any.
I want to press buttons? Vanguards press all the buttons.
I want to destroy blocks? They destroy all the blocks as soon as they respawn.
They stopped me from doing just about anything except walking. (Then I found out that none of my weapons could push players onto spikes. I also didn't have a ban stick to kill them with.)

Lol, the subject sounds as if I was trolling the Vanguards.
I'm pretty sure I breezed through Knight Elite as well. Although I wasn't at full 5* like Bopp and Fehzor when the missions came out, I had at least a full 4* set so I guess that made me a Defender Elite or something quite quickly.
Nevertheless, I remember back when Zeddy and I were, for some reason, running with our alts. They were of course not very well geared. Anyhow, this was way after missions were released and I had pretty much finished my sword collection and was definitely well known on the forums by the time - I believe it was when my awfully stupid "Ask a striker anything" thread was still around. Of course, I don't blame that one newbie knight, who was better geared than my alt, for not believing me when I said that DA was, contrary to his friend's beliefs, not at all the best sword in the game. I guess it's pretty logical that people don't believe people of lower ranks as they're often spewing misconceptions and will have less experience with the game than you.
But really, Bopp. Antiguas are super strong, why would you use a crappy gun that only shoots two bullets when you could shoot six?

Of course you're joking, but you have no idea how many times I have had this conversation. In the next line I mention damage per shot, including ricochets. Then they ask what the damage per shot is. I suggest that they check the wiki after the run. Sometimes they are surprised to hear that we have a wiki.
Sometimes they even start reading the wiki during the run. I'm waiting for them. I can't leave, or I become one of those callous Vanguards that players complain about in threads like this.
Oops. This thread is supposed to be Knight Elites whining, not Vanguards whining. Cheers.
@Bopp
Krakob was talking about the magnus line. Charge is even worse, only getting 1 shot instead of 7.
I speedrun soloed sewer stash non-stop for days and had a guildie carry me through RT.
Don't have any stories to tell. Avoided haven the entire way.
You have no idea the amount of mistreatment I've copped for being Recruit :P (It's great when they have to eat their words though.)
But this is one of the many reasons I remain at this rank. Some people act very... interestingly when they think that they're top cookie in a party.
