Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 @ 2.10GHz
Memory: 4096 MB RAM
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate (32 Bit)
Discrete Graphics Card: NVidea GeForce GT 130M w/ 1GB Onboard memory

I'm hoping posting this here in Tech Support will help me get to the bottom of this problem I've had for a while. In short, my game crashes horrifically at random moments in the game. It's a whole system crash; my laptop screen goes black, sound goes choppy (repeating a short burst of noise indefinitely), completely unresponsive to anything, fan on max, etc. Only thing that puts it out of its misery is a forced shut down.

This has ONLY happened whilst I'm in a dungeon, but it never seems to happen in any pattern. There was once when it happened 3 times in a row at the same location, crashing shortly after I rejoined the game. Only thing I can think of is that it usually happens when I just hit or released 'attack' (just swung my sword, just released a charge attack, just set down a bomb). It used to be a rare event but it's happening rather frequently now. Even more annoying, I waste time rebooting and energy because I get booted from the level and must pay up again to rejoin.

I've tried everything in the sticky. I've updated my graphics driver (multiple times, as new iterations are released), I've updated my Java to Version 6 Update 26, firewall is not the issue since I CAN play normally, and I'm already running it minimum settings at lowest resolution with vsync off (1024x600) in a window. It happens in both window/fullscreen, both compatability mode on/off. I also installed and reinstalled SK locally. I feel like it's not an overheating issue since the system response to that is to immediately power off (and in this crash it just stays on indefinitely).

Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Is your computer

Is your computer overheating...? At first glance, it sounds like it might be; you should check for dust or debris inside/around your computer.
All the same, here is the Performance Issues FAQ--please look through that and tell us if that helps/doesn't help.

Didn't seem to help...

Apologies for the late reply; school stuff caught up with me. XD

I tried the stuff in the performance issues FAQ and did everything in there, plus the overheating issue. I did check my computer for dirt and dust but it was fine, nothing major clogging up the ventilation or anything. Gave it a good dusting with an air duster to be sure.

The game still crashed the last time I played though (which was yesterday). :( Not sure what to do. It's sporadic enough that I *could* just try to ignore it but I'd rather get this solved. It's marring an otherwise good gaming experience. This hasn't happened for someone else with the same laptop model (but different GPU and processor) so I'm quite frankly not sure where the problem is (Lenovo Ideapad Y550 for reference). It runs virtually all other games I have no problem, and SK doesn't seem so graphically intense either.

Thanks for the suggestion in anycase.

Any chance..

You can post the most recent error file from your SK folder? You may want to remove any information that could identify who you are (mine include my home directory name, which is *my* name).

I have similar errors and I'm curious if you're having the same problem.

...?

Uh...I don't actually know what file that actually is. I'm guessing it's gonna be one of the .log files but beyond that I have no clue. Which one should I look for?

Also, it's happened again, and my computer wasn't even that hot (i.e. I've had it way hotter before). Doesn't seem to be overheating.

I'm also SUFFERING from this issue

I am experiencing the same problem, which is an ongoing struggle for me (i.e. it has happened on other games). It is extremely frustrating as I build up to a boss level, for example, get to the boss level and my PC will crash, just like that, black screen, choppy sound etc. I literally don't know what to do. I want to persevere but this is making the game unbearable to play as I am constantly at risk of unexpected F*** up. I don't know if this is a SK problem exclusively, and for me - at least - I don't think it is, but any fix/suggestion would be very welcome. Jon

I've got the same issue. It's

I've got the same issue. It's been happening for roughly a month now and only SK causes it. In my case, it happens whenever something loads, meaning when a bunch of monsters suddenly spawn or even when I move from the town square to the arcade and everything freezes while loading. At first, it only happened in dungeons. Nowadays, it also happens when loading a map. I can go days without this happening and then crash 4 times in a row before giving up for the day. Drivers up to date, yadda yadda, no luck even after following the FAQ. Thankfully, my guildmates are understanding and I haven't been booted out a random party yet. /o/

Guess this is it...

Huh, so I'm not the only one huh?

It tends to happen as long as there are monsters on the screen, but indeed, loading does seem to be precursor to most of the cases. Spawning is a common case, but loading up the Auction House screen has killed it once and even loading the "death" screen options caused me to crash just now (the revive buttons). I don't want to but I'm giving up on this game unless support can fix this. Some of my OS's files got corrupted after the latest run (thankfully non-essential for functioning) and I can't afford to lose my laptop when I need it for research.

Last ditch effort/call for help. It seems to happen to me VERY often in the Jelly Palace (as in every time I've been there the last 6 times I ventured there). Specific locations include the 1st part with the two weight based switches, each gate opened by a press switch under some blue ice blocks and explosive boxes peppered around the central area (7 crashes), the spawn of an explosive jelly + minis + normal jellies gets me often, but also the side areas where you need to find the statues. Another is the very start of the Red Carpet level (the circular section with a statue in the middle and spawning enemies every time you take out a phasing block) (4 crashes).

I can't play anymore. Looks like all that CE from the recent bust is gonna go to waste... :(
