I'm haven't been playing SK for months now. It got stale, but I just wanted to take a peek at the updates to see if anything was happening.

Lo and behold. Another prize box update. I checked through the news section and the past NINE updates in a row have just been box promos. They are released about every half month/full month which is about the same as other mmos. But no, instead of new content SK just gets boxes.

If SK actually produced *actual* content, I would have stated playing again to experience it, and would probably become addicted again. But ofc, they release these costumes that add nothing to the game except to make a tiny, tiny portion of the playerbase look snazzier. If even that. Everyone is getting bored of the game. Less and less people search for SK showing that it is losing popularity due to nothing happening

Idk what their business plan is, but it isn't working. SK just seems to be a failing game that is still alive since it injects Sega with a small amount of revenue. But really, the game is just going downhill right now, it's just sad to see a very unique and fun game die such a dumb death. Three rings is either gonna get their act together or the game will start to fail enough that it gets shut down.

This is just very sad.

yet again

Your points are not wrong, but we've had literally hundreds of threads like this over the past four years.

If you really so saddened by

If you really so saddened by SK, then why are you still wasting your time posting rants on the Forums. Theres been millions of other topics like these and has OOO really done something to fix the game...not really. So you really think one more is going to get them to do something.

Less and less people search for WoW showing that it is losing popularity due to nothing happening!

Nothing must be happening in RuneScape either!

Looks like Charlie Sheen wasn't even popular before his scandal.

I love this thing, it tells me so much detailed information about how popular things are.

We share the same thing: Urge for new content.

Yo, I also was complaining about the updates. Nothing but costume prize boxes. I am a F2P user which doesn't like to pay for rubbish, such as prize boxes. I really want to see some major update with added function, such as Deathmatch or something. I am actually a Knight rank, but when no update will appear when I finally reach Vanguard rank then I am quitting the game. But I will stay on forums.

@Topic

A good way to fix not having content would be to send the developers large amounts of cash for no reason, telling them to work on content for Spiral Knights. I haven't seen them respond nearly as well to other forms of stimuli however.

@Hexzyle

You like to google up pics of Charlie Sheen too!? It's like we were made for one another and Charlie Sheen was made for the both of us.

This again...

Spiral Knights has apparently been dying for its entire lifetime if you listened to the players. Another game I used to play religiously has been "dying" for 10 years, but last I checked people were still playing it. Even the creator started to mock the threads. (Note, put it as a link to the page via google 'cause the page's content isn't exactly... Well, clean of language, being a forum and all. Go to it at your own risk!)

But yeah, promo boxes isn't the game dying, it's the game making money so the developers can eat while still giving us something neat. Three Rings is a small team, and they have multiple projects to work on (Currently it would appear they are putting most of their dev hours into Rise of Knights), so them not being active on Spiral Knights isn't really a big surprise.

AKA content doesn't make them money, so why not just recycle assets, press a button to change the color and BAM.... whales buying $20 boxes for a 1% chance for an item.
I'm actually surprised someone actually CREATED a teddy bear shield this time.
It's really sad when something like this is a surprise...

I like

I like green things a lot. It still wan't enough to get me to buy those lame peridot boxes. They didn't even have the twinkles the ruby stuff had.

Eh

Personally I think a lot of the promos we're getting right now is cross-art development for Rise of Knights. They finish making art assets for the mobile game, package them up, add chances to things, recolor the main items, and ship the promo.

Actual content makes them money as returning players come back. It's why the newest content we have is harder content as it acts as an attempt to swipe away our sparks of life so we'll use energy to buy more. Three Rings can't survive off of spark purchases alone however, and people are cheapskates, so completely optional cosmetic promos is the answer. Make Three Rings money, and doesn't really hurt the game at all (mixmaster being borderline breaking).

...

people say TEAM FORKING FORTRESS is dying, which is a game that has THOUSANDS of servers on average and amasses around TEN THOUSAND players on most days while I seen games with LESS THAN SIX SERVERS AND NO MORE THAN 20 PEOPLE ONLINE FUNCTION JUST FINE. All that's going to happen is that the community will get smaller and more TIGHTLY KNIT. also, tostress my points I HAVE TO USE EXCESSIVE CAPS.
