Was [redacted] the "new tier 3 boss"?

Spoiler alert for non-vanguards up here. Not too many of you on the forums here from what I've seen but hey, if you follow the story, this is your warning.

Figure I might bring this up since I went back to this thread from long ago for one of my statements and re-read some of what Nick had said.

The part that's standing out to me is the "New Tier 3 Boss". The wording is as follows: "A new mission arc will be incorporated following the events of the Firestorm Citadel that will include a new boss monster for players to challenge."

Now, with the missions that have been added, we have a direct aftermath to Firestorm Citadel, and directly fight Herex. He is inside a depth marked with the "boss" icon, has the boss theme playing as we fight him, etc.
But my question to all you would be does he count as a boss? I've always imagined boss monsters being ones that give special tokens upon defeating, and are also in the arcade. Herex is in neither of these situations, however he does fit the criteria Nick set forth in that old post.

However, the way it's worded, we could potentially be fighting a completely different enemy. We could be venturing into the core and fighting a boss monster in there perhaps. That is still "technically" tier 3, and the core could simply be depth ???. This could be introduced in every arcade gate, thus not requiring a new gate into the mix or forcing one boss monster gate out of the equation.
Bottom line, do you think Herex was the new boss hinted at in September 2013, or do you think it has yet to be revealed?

.......

[redacted] was more like a speedbump compared to the level itself. I certainly hope we get a new boss along with new boss token items.

Hard to say. It's possible

Hard to say. It's possible Herex is the boss referred to in that comment. It's equally possible that comment refers to the swarm, or perhaps a new swarm boss - currently only hinted at by that floating eye you see during Herex's dialogue in DaN.

If it does refer to Herex, that battle can't be the final boss fight against him. He shows up again in the very next mission.

(I'm assuming that if you care about the spoilers you've not clicked on this and are not reading this, or have already spoiled it, so I won't redact)

Herex could be a boss in the future but not as we fought him-- he got away after his fight and so is still out there as a villain of some sort. If that Herex fight was the last big boss then the rest of the plot is going to be rather dry.

Well yeah

Sort of my thought on it too. He's not necessarily a boss in the traditional sense right now, but with the information we currently have at hand it's not like Herex isn't following the direct criteria.

Personally I hope to see the new boss be a swarm related one in the core where we fight alongside Euclid, but the monster itself is "the swarm" so it keeps coming back. Gives enough lore to the game that alpha squad doesn't leave the core, we get a new boss, and it doesn't matter how often we fight it because it'll be back.
But that's my own personal hope for the future. Herex's fight seemed like a boss fight to prep you for Dreams and Nightmares, not the "new tier 3 boss". I just saw the past signs pointing forwards saying it was that Herex fight.
