I know, I know. We have daily prestige missions. But What I really miss in Spiral Knights is daily quests. i.e. Kill 10 members of the slime family; reward-3,500 crowns.

I think this will motivate people to log on more often. I know a lot of games that have this daily kinda quest-y stuff and I often catch myself saying: "Gotta log on to (...) to get mah rewardzzz".

This will not only motivate people to log on, it will also help lower tiered players in ranking up.
The example I gave only has a minor reward, I mean, what can you do with 3,500 crowns? Yeah, not that much.

But what about a better reward, with a harder quest?
Beat Jelly King on elite; reward- 1 advanced orb.

"Wow newb, Jelly King isn't hard :v"

I know I know, but for new players, playing it on elite could be rather tough, and who doesn't want a free orb? right? Right?! :c

And with Spiral Knights being as it is right now, you can come up with tons of daily challenges with creative rewards that can vary from materials, to crowns, to rarities or maybe other fun stuff like usables and confetti and such :^y.

-Get (X) moonstone/crimsonite/valestone/luminite/dark matter. Reward = (X) Power orbs.
-Find 5 Flame Souls. Reward = 12 Shining Fire Crystals.
-Craft a Sword/Gun/Bomb/Helmet/Armor/Shield. Reward = 1 Orb of alchemy (Based on rank? Vanguards get eternals, knights get advanced etc.)
-Open the supply depot and trade your crowns for 100 E. Reward = 1 Snarbostuffing.
-Join a random party using the party finder and complete a mission with strangers. Reward = 2500 crowns.

Just to name a few things.

Please let me know what you think and post your thoughts about this!

Jaloenow.

Huh.

Interesting for sure. I'd say rewards shouldn't be too high. 3500 crowns may not seem like much, but that's a fair amount for things of the such.

I like the idea of things being tiered, and for the sake of progression, we should have at least 2 daily quests. One gives rewards for your current rank and are harder, one gives rewards for your previous rank and are easier.

So if you're struggling at the 3* hall of heroes and need one more 2* orb so make a wolver coat, you can complete the easier mission if it offers simple orbs of alchemy. Then if you can complete the harder mission and get that 3* orb you need.

With potential rarity rewards, you could solve a lot of end-game problems while making players diversify their play of the game.

Rewards for these dailies could start at rank 2 (so you're in Haven), and be similar to this system:

HARD RANK

  • Crown rewards - 1k crowns per knight star level's rank (When your missions take place in stratum 3, 2000 crowns, stratum 4, 3000 crowns, etc)
  • 1 orb of alchemy, dependent on the knight's star level rank (same criteria as above)
  • Fire crystal rewards - 3 fire crystals of the appropriate star level rank, multiplied by the star level rank (1* will get 3 crystals, 5* gets 15 crystals)
  • Material rewards - Gives a random assortment of 3-5 materials. Material levels are dependent on the knight's star level rank + 1 (3* knights can get 4* materials)
  • Cosmetic rewards - usables such as confetti or snowballs are rewarded. 2-5 of each are given.
  • Event rewards - During an event, dailies can reward tokens for that event. Dependent on the event (apocrea might give 25 sigils, dark harvest may give 1 of each token, black kat 4 pages)
  • Rare rewards - occasionally you will be given a "?" reward. These rewards happen once a week, and are randomized as to what reward they give. Its rewards can consist of: trinket slot upgrades, weapon slot upgrades, 1UV tickets, 2UV tickets, heat amplifiers, a large crown multiplier (5x-8x of your crown reward level), a large rarity multiplier (3x-6x of your rarity reward level), a prize box (can be forge by default, but potentially a promo box if there's a promo active), silver keys, or shadow keys.

Rare rewards could additionally only show up once a week 50% of the time. This makes their occurrence more random and not something to count on.

EASY RANK

  • Crown rewards - 0.6x the rewards of your hard rank's crown rewards.
  • 1 orb of alchemy, one rank lower than the knight's star level rank.
  • Fire crystal rewards - 3 fire crystals of the rank below a knight's star level rank, multiplied by that rank.
  • Material rewards - Gives a random assortment of 3-5 materials. Material levels are set up as if one rank under the current knight's rank
  • There are no cosmetic or event rewards for "easy" dailies.

And lastly I thought about this too - a single PvP daily!

PvP

  • Crown rewards - 500 crowns per PvP tier. If you complete the daily in tier 2 you will get 1000 crowns, in tier 3 1500. Blast network counts as tier 2.
  • Prestige rewards - 15 prestige per PvP tier. You can now gain prestige from playing PvP games!
  • Krogmo coin rewards - 2-4 additional krogmo coins. Does not scale per tier
  • Rare rewards - Same criteria as the "hard rank" rare rewards. Can be comprised of: krogmo coin boosters, trinket slot upgrades, weapon slot upgrades, krogmo bribe pass - essentially a free bribe, 1UV tickets.

Now here are some examples of dailies:

Kill 10 devilites in a single run in the arcade.
    Defeat Lord Vanaduke on elite.
Defeat 15 strikers using a piercing weapon.
Defeat 10 recons using a gun.
Capture 7 control points in a single game in Lockdown.
Kill 30 slimes with a bomb in the arcade.
Kill 12 gremlin thwackers in a single run with a shadow sword in the arcade.
Make a trade with another player.
Put an item up for sale on the auction house.
Win an item for sale on the auction house.
Win an item for sale on the auction house without using the "buy now" option.
Trade for 200 energy on the energy market.
Sell 100 energy on the energy market.
    Craft a 3* item.
Play a game of blast network without ever killing yourself.
Get 10 kills in a game of blast network.
Get 5 kills in a single game of blast network.
Join a party on the party finder.
Join a party on the party finder without having any player on your friends list/guild list.
Join a party on the party finder, then complete a mission.
Join a party on the party finder in the arcade, and reach the next subtown.
Start an open party and have it fill up to 4 players.
Start an open party and have it fill up to 4 players without having any player on your friends list/guild list.

... I could keep going, and make more specifics, but you get the general idea. Dailies could be more open ended, or more specific. The more specific the daily is, the higher its reward will be.

:3 +1

I love this sort of thing. It reminds me of Warframe, a game with drastically different gameplay, but a familiar feel. They have gradually been adding more and more reasons to log in daily, including daily reputation with syndicates, pvp, and for simply logging in once every 24 hours. Spiral Knights should cast more hooks with delicious bait out there like this. Gotta catch all those players as often as you can! Wait, which game am I talking about again, right, spiral knights, not pokemon or warframe.

So, +1.

You might be interested in a similar idea a few of us talked about a while ago, Radar Pings. No necromancy please, just look, no touchy.

Make a trade with another player.

This would result in people saying "I need to complete a daily quest" and trade with another player for 1 crown|Nothing.

Join a party on the party finder.

Just about the same thing as above, people would say "I need to complete a daily quest" and ask for someone to start a mission, invite him, and leave the mission immediately with the quest rewards.

Join a party on the party finder without having any player on your friends list/guild list.

This would be (nearly) impossible for people with a lot of active friends.

So no to these 3.

hmmm

I would like the mineral collecting quests... It would give me a reason to collect colours that are not red purple or yellow. XD
So +1 mate. I like the idea.

They were mostly examples

The point of these dailies aren't to massively profit, but to give you something to do that day. For the sake of simplicity, an "easy" rank daily may be "trade an item with another player". People will simply trade with a friend or a guildmate, yes, but what does that do? It makes them log into Spiral Knights that day. The "hard rank" daily will have higher rewards anyways, and would consist of more gameplay things.

Join a party on the party finder.
... people would say "I need to complete a daily quest" and ask for someone to start a mission, invite him, and leave the mission immediately with the quest rewards.
Well that's not really "joining a party on the party finder", that's being invited to a mission, which is entirely different.

The point of these really simple and easy-to-do missions is that they incentivize logging in every day, not that they force you to play too long each day. It'll make people who play the game but don't know what to do a reason to log on every day.

Join a party on the party finder without having any player on your friends list/guild list.

Not exactly. You can join a lower tier arcade party, or simply join a King of Ashes mission through the party finder. The whole point of that daily is that is makes you play the game with strangers and, in turn, potentially make more friends. Imagine having a daily where you are supposed to make a full party with no friends/guildmates for the prestige mission of an event and complete it? Apocrea would be a lot of fun and potentially a teaching/learning experience instead of a "find people you already know, grind the event" or "cheat the event by going solo".

My thoughts on dailies are easy ones would make you log on that day and be simple or easy to achieve, whereas hard ones would be harder or more complex to achieve. A third daily for PvP would give a little something for everyone every day.

I think I misunderstood that a bit

Well that's not really "joining a party on the party finder", that's being invited to a mission, which is entirely different.

Still, someone could say the same thing and ask for someone to make an open party, then join, and leave with the rewards.

Imagine having a daily where you are supposed to make a full party with no friends/guildmates for the prestige mission of an event and complete it?

I thought you meant "nobody in your guild or friends list is online"...

I think completing quests

I think completing quests shouldn't give you instant rewards. Have like a bar that fills up more if you do the hard ones and less if yoi do the easy ones. The reward at the end can be random.

I doubt ooo will ever implement this because its a business after all and giving people even more orbs will make them buy less.

.....

I would like if this was added to many of the current prestige missions as well. That way we get a useable reward added to the currently non-game altering "Prestige".
