and instead start to work on a single player adventure game in the same setting of the spiral knight's universe with a strong narrative.
You can just use a lot of the resources already coded into SK. At most, you'd need to add are a few more puzzle oriented mechanics, and even then you could easily make a strong narrative driven game with what's already in the game. No longer will you need to update the game with cosmetics for those cash whales or keep spending money to host the servers when you can just sell the game for 20 bucks.
I would much more prefer to spend 20 bucks for a good single player version of SK then grind for hours in our current one.
no.
But in all seriousness, this isn't a suggestion for this game necessarily. The development team is currently working on a mobile game called "Rise of Knights", and I'd assume they're putting most of their resources into that right now. When they're done with the mobile game, I'd prefer they put more work into Spiral Knights' lifetime before moving on to another project that may or may not be related to the SK universe.
Personally I would love if the development team were to create a 4-player co-op game set in the Spiral Knights universe as a prequel, titled "Rise of Knights: Morai Wars", or something about the Morai. I'd love to play in the game's universe fighting the Morai off, customizing your gear (classes such as striker, recon, guardian/warden), etc. It could potentially be told in a story-teller environment from Cradle, as veterans from the old times recapped on past wars. They could show off their gear between stories, which would be old and damaged versions of the gear you wear in the main quest. It could even end with the young knights who were listening to the story being forced into the gear themselves, as the morai have "finally found us", and start fighting off a war on cradle...
loud exhale
But let's try not to get too far ahead of ourselves now...
Regardless, there's so much that can be touched upon in the Spiral Knights universe, and so many potential games to take inspiration from for gameplay. You could have an FTL: Faster than Light sort of game, escaping the grasp of the Morai before crashing on Cradle, you could have the Morai Wars itself (with either birds eye view combat or even a first person combat), you could have a cradle tower defense as we defend the core or outposts in the clockworks... There's so many things that can be done within the lore of Spiral Knights, and we're just along for the ride.
