Wiki Cleaning - Alchemy Paths

Mentioned before in Node 107998.
There is support to simply redirect the List of alchemy paths page to Category:Alchemy Paths. While the category does not have visuals, it generally automatically updates assuming the editor remembers to tag the path they make with the category.
The "List of alchemy paths" page does not, in my opinion, properly portray the behavior of alchemy paths in a way that is intuitive. There's clearly been a lot of work put into it, but it does not follow the format we so carefully developed recently with Raven's huge help, nor has it been updated in a while, and doing so would be a nightmare, considering both gunner gear and future updates. When we can just be useful and link to the category.
I would not be opposed to a page named "alchemy path" explaining what an alchemy path is, ultimately serving the function of the "List of alchemy paths" page in a compressed manner.
For reference, here are a few discussions about the page:
*Node 14989
*Node 58956
*The talk page on the wiki. Warning: huge load time due to someone's experimentation in 2013
Regarding the number of views on the List of alchemy paths page, we are suspicious it is so high because every material page linked to it for years.

I would say that even currently, the alchemy path list is incomplete... because its missing all the items that don't have an upgrade (like Frost Gun).
I'm in agreement with Bopp. A page like that is unrealistic to maintain.

We would just have to make subpages and tag them with includeonly category for them to register, instead of having the raw tree code in that section on the page. Example: Frost Gun vs. Perfect Mask of Seerus. Subs made putting the same path on each item in the tree's page easier, but it should also be done consistently for items that are lonely in their tree.
Help organizing these would be great, but I understand it's a minor issue and people have jobs and lives and all that.

Yes, I'm aware of how to make them, I just neglected to make any of the single item trees to save a couple hundred clicks when I was tossing the new trees in. That comment was mostly to warn anyone that would be interested to update it what I had done.
To my knowledge all trees with more than 1 item will definitely be on that list.

Yes, I'm aware of how to make them
Well yeah, you did the coding. Comment #3 is directed at general users reading the thread, not a single person.

It has been brought to our attention that technically, items such as the "Teddy Bear Buckler" do not actually have "alchemy paths." Should we remove "alchemy path/tree" information from the pages of items that do not have a recipe? This is mostly promotional items/reskins. Of course, the acquisition information would remain.

Despite the much work I can't even imagine that has been put to that page, I think it should be redericted. As a visual person it's nice and dandy to see everything the same time, but I assume most of the players who would check that out are looking for a specific item's path.
Imo we can leave those pahtless items there. A few stuff, like the black kat line, or the seerus masks are related to the lower star versions, but not directly through an alchemy path and some may not know that.

In other words, Teddy Bear Buckler is the only item in its alchemy path. The same is true of Proto Sword. These would be treated in the same way?
I have no objection to alchemy paths with only one item. Keeping them in their pages might help keep those pages regularized, so that players see information in familiar places.
Or is your objection to the word "alchemy" specifically, because no knight ever makes Teddy Bear Buckler? That doesn't bother me.
Warmaster Rocket Hammer used to display the lower-star versions in its alchemy path, but that has been changed already, rightly I think.

I am in general agreement. When I was a newer player, I appreciated alchemy paths quite a lot, even if there was only one item in them. It let me know I didn't have to make some other item and heat it. In fact, I likely wouldn't still be playing if it weren't for the wiki's paths, because they let me know about the arcane salamander suit. But that's a story for anyone who asks, outside of this forum. This is a relatively minor issue.
When we were implementing the alch tree changes, I had to adjust the wording of several items. These include:
-OCH items
-Black Kat Cowl
-Homecoming items
Since they are not crafted into each other. Immediately below the alch path, the other items in the "series" are mentioned and links are provided.
Since it doesn't seem to be a concern, we'll just leave them as is. Though I wouldn't be opposed to a slightly better, more encompassing title for the template's header, if we can agree on one, and as long as it does not disrupt the logic of the current format. Perhaps "PAGENAME's Star Lineage"?
As in the earlier discussion, I think that List of Alchemy Paths is a nightmare of maintainability. A benevolent God would never allow it to persist in our universe.
