It's simples. Whenever a player walks over a vitapod that is worse than the one equiped, The player picks it up.
Then, the player can either sell it or use it on his/her next clockworks expedition. This way, the player can prepare more for an adventure, and can choose between vitapods, and save a big one for a challenge.

I don't think OOO is going to try that. Vitapods are meant to make it so that the difficulty doesn't look like its increasing dramatically as you descend to the Core.
And also I think in Subtowns, Mission Lobbies, and in Terminals, the people sell Vitapods. So that would make them kinda useless. (Even though nobody buys their stuff.)
I hear you can get over 60 HP from Shadow Lairs. Guess what's gonna happen there.
I'm not saying this idea is terrible, I'm saying that I don't think it will be upvoted.
