So, while working on updating the mission pages, I ran into a bit of a snag with recon modules. We've been working on getting dialogue onto the wiki, so I thought, why not use a similar format for recon modules? This of course turned into a project that took up an entire day.
Each artifact now has its own distinct page with content instead of a redirect to the artifact page. They now register for the previously non-existant Artifact Category. They are their own entity. As such, they can be linked to directly for various reasons, such as discussing what something means for the game's lore/story on the forums. Regarding the wiki, they can conveniently be plugged anywhere the module's context would be prudent to have. For example, see Shadow of the Beast (will add to Gloaming Wildwoods later, we're just working on missions right now), and Euclid. They use the same recon module page as a sort of template/subpage, as does the list format I've made for the main artifact page.
These individual artifact pages use a new template intended to be uncollapsed on the artifact's page and collapsed elsewhere for page flow and anti-spoiler factor. While a wiki is essentially spoiler, there are certain things that are more spoilery than others, and I noticed editors in the past emphasize the "contains spoilers" aspect of some of these artifacts. Players searching for the artifact directly probably don't care about spoilers and would not appreciate the information being hidden because they are searching specifically for it, while players simply looking through other pages would not like having this information so easily "accidentally viewed."
This template is intended to mimic the in-game appearance of a given artifact when viewed from the player's arsenal. The interface of the echo stone is quite unique. We have to find the right balance between "bland text display" and "in-game interface." I feel that the Echo Stone version could be better, but not sure how. And yes it does bother me that the Gloaming Wildwoods recon module doesn't use a capital L for "Leader" when all the other recon modules do for the alpha squad titles. Submit them bug reports for this extremely important issue that makes the game totally unplayable.
The current artifact article functions fine, I just feel that it can be improved. Well, parts of it have to be. The context of many modules was either entered incorrectly or is now out of date regarding minor punctuation, capitalization, and a few missing words/incorrect use of synonyms. So it needs to be updated - and I propose this format. Compare to the current Artifact page. More details are constantly being added, so, as always, keep feedback "big picture."
I also feel that the article should be moved back to "Artifact." There isn't a major disambiguation issue as long as The Artifact is named as such and linked to properly. (Article links should always lead directly to the intended subject). We can simply have the {{about}} template on the top of these two pages linking to the disambiguation page. "Commemorative Artifact" is fine, but using the direct arsenal terminology is the best option. I do not feel strongly about this issue.
Talked with a few people and they really like the new format. If nobody has any objections here in the thread, I'll implement the changes soon (not the disambig issue). Feedback is still an option, of course.
EDIT: now working on the semi-disambiguation issue.
