Lol Celestial Vortex. Guess they needed a reason for people to buy into this uv ticket promo. Anyone know if it's a straight reskin or does it do stun or something?
Equinox Prize Boxes
In the files it's listed as its own item, yet it's a blast bomb reskin

(The actual model.dat doesn't work for some reason)
Obligatory "equinox needs to be an energy bundled promo to be a good promo" comment.
I've stopped really buying into this promo... If it's going to be a reskinned item promo, I don't see why we can't just take the UV tickets out of the box. Equinox has enough stuff in it at this point that we could make it its own full prize box without many problems, plus curb just about all my complaints about the box being standalone.
Was nice of them to sneak Nonna in though.
I have samples from a player in-game, tooltip and stats pics will be on wiki soon.
What I don't understand is why they decided to not have the shield and sword (and the crests) in the prize pool this time.
EDIT: pic of bomb tooltip. The little moon orbits counterclockwise as the bomb rotates clockwise. Stats are elemental, looks slow, and "Good chance of causing Strong FIRE."
EDIT: Celestial Vortex page with more information. We will update the page with more information as we get it. Be patient, rage about the box contents, and game on.
Elemental/Fire Vortex?
Electron Vortex outclasses it and is more viable in FSC.....
..................and now I feel bad because in order to play with the fun new content I have to gamble without knowing more about the odds than that they are drastically out of my favor. These things make the game feel dead to me. Not dead in the sense that it isn't being played or supported, but in the sense that it has no soul.
An elemental+fire vortex bomb? Might this find a use in Ghosts in the Machine?
"An elemental+fire vortex bomb? Might this find a use in Ghosts in the Machine?"
Why wouldn't you use Obsidian Crusher? I realize obviously Undead resist Shadow, but Poison is honestly more useful in that mission (considering how easy it is to get hit), and the Vortex Bombs generally aren't used for their really special damage now are they? Also, what would a Combuster user (very, very common for GitM) get from using a bomb that inflicts the status they're already doing since the statuses don't stack? Also, as I recall, there are no flying enemies in GitM, so Crusher is not limited at all.
It isn't the strongest item imaginable by any stretch, but it should be pretty good for taking out a number of enemies, and is certainly an improvement for many loadouts. Imagine the fire as a sort of consolation prize- you fail to smack them in the vortex? Maybe they aren't quite finished off after you brandish them? Strong fire will at least deal some damage over time to them, possibly killing them and certainly injuring them- especially if you've already hit them up with a voltedge charge to keep them there on fire and miserable.
Ash of Agni can still handle many more enemies but slower and electron vortex can still trap enemies more efficiently, but the fire+vortex combination is an exciting, intriguing and most of all fun option that more than 99% of us will never get to experience first hand because lets face it- this prize box just isn't worth the asking price and pain that comes with it.
@Tenderfoot
I believe you mean to say less than one percent. The symbol '>' is used for greater than.
Don't you love the <1% items? If we would round it up to full 1% chance though what we get is:
- 1% to get one with 1 box (quite obvious, isn't it?)
- 4,9% to get one or more with 5 boxes
- 13,1% (to get 1+) with 14 boxes
- 39.5% (to get 1+) with 50 boxes
- 63.4% (to get 1+) with 100 boxes
- 86.6% (to get 1+) with 200 boxes.
Of course the actual percentages are lower since it's <1% item. 4 out of 5 times you'll end up with Unique Variant ticket. In other 18% you may find something that is worth as much or more than the box itself (usually 200-250kcr per box). Remaining <3% is what everyone is aiming towards (2% chance for wings/aura + <1% for Vortex) and where you can make some significant profit. When you'll look at it this way you'll realize that most of promotions are built this way, where selling boxes gives you more money unless you'll find yourself in lucky ~20% (usually less) chance zone. The difference with Equinox and few other promotion is that they contain an actual, unique (not just cosmetically changed) piece of gear.
While I love collecting weapons (and any new one is a great news to me) I can't say I'm a fan of putting new equipment with ridiculously low finding probability as nothing else but bait. I'd rather see all promo items in Supply Depot for 2 week period, even if that Vortex would cost 50kE+ there. At least you'd know what you're paying for. I guess it wouldn't earn as much money as gambling boxes though.
my heart almost stopped. since the model is very similar to DR, I thought they released an elemental DR as a promo... oh god.
If they did that we'd have to grab our pitchforks and prepare a siege on Spiral HQ. Hopefully they don't have too many riftlockers in there.
Yeah I'll have to agree, we really don't need unique weapons hidden essentially by paywalls. I'm okay if they add it for crafting in events or expansion missions, but not this. I was afraid they would make more after I saw the Mixmaster, sadly it was true...
Keep supporting these kind of promos of course they would keep adding unique weapons to prizebox without have a free alternative that can obtained trought events or mission.
but well. its what this community deserves.
@Sweet-Hope
I personally do agree on that, though word as well needs to be voiced about our dislike with their decision. For the record, I haven't bought a Prize Box since... late 2013/early 2014?
Idea:
Make prize-box exclusive weapons and shields available for straight CE purchase for the duration of the event.
but im going to guess its a graviton bomb reskin, it probably will be its own thing though
