I was trained and formed for this sort of thing.

A commendable initiative, but the structure does not leave much options to choose from. Allow me to help you.

I was aiming for raw simplicity, if you have anything to add to your votes be sure to leave a reply here.

Important things are simple. Simple things are hard.

Simple things aren't exactly things that are easy to define and understand, they're actually frequently hard to pin down. Simplicity is more akin to subtlety than being clear.

You want to build a clear indication of what the community wants for Three Rings to take consideration into for future promotions. Getting the wrong idea out of it is likely the worst case scenario, that's why there must be no room for errors or ambiguity.

Come to think of it, I should have specified options for people wanting accessories to be either more unique or there being more recolors of them.

algorithms are the solutions to any problem.

at the same time, a screen-wide list can be intimidating for people and can lead them to not vote at all. if you want some straight up opinions, you make a list here on the forums and let people choose multiple things. if you just want to know what people want most, you do what holy did.

too bad s/he included the "I don't want boxes, I want updates." everyone will go for that.

@Melon
Regardless it's not nice to try and hijack someone's thread. Also your poll doesn't make the distinction between reskinned promo items and totally new gear in promo boxes.... a distinction that seems to be important enough to make "New weapons with new mechanics" the lowest voted promo box desire.

@Thunder
As far as updates are concerned I would be happy with anything from minor bug fixes to new missions. In fact I would be elated if SK made it a priority to keep players up to date on patches. And of course everyone will go for it..... people are sick of being told to play dress up in haven, they want new places to go and new things to do... not another color.....

I think Holy-Nightmare's poll is perfectly adequate. I prefer it over the rather overwhelming poll that Melonfish made. TBH, most of Melon's options are redundant.

That said, I object to the last option on Holy's poll. There will be another promo box. That's just a fact. Thus, the final option says nothing about what people want out of promos.

@ Trae

Even then you can still ignore that part of the results since people ARE allowed to vote for more than one.

Costumes and Box only new gear are still on the bottom of the list.

Making gradual progress.

@Thunder-The-Bright: I agree that it is intimidating. Of course the selection is intimidating. You could put just about anything in a prize box and the options are massive. A new player looking up a list of all the items in Spiral Knights would be fairly intimidated by the amount of things that are or aren't within their reach in their foreseeable career in-game, this is the scale impression I went back to in order to better compile what needs to be covered. I actually didn't think of letting people choose if they want gears to remain 5* or include more that are 4* and less, or even more furnitures or trinkets.

There's a lot you can put in a prize box. There's plenty of items that have become so regularly predictable and some others that have not been found in one for some long years. We've come to expect the few types of items that almost always come in regularly so leisurely that the rest of the numerous types of items and the importance of which to take into consideration end up being intimidating to look back on. I went ahead with that in mind. I wish I could have added more or simply just modify the poll with what I mentioned previously, but as the situation is right now...

@Holy-Nightmare: The distinction is quite clear to me. Maybe it's the wording that's not so obvious. I admit that it's likely because I'm not comfortable with the common habit of calling an item a reskin when it replicates stats and abilities of another despite being an entirely different model rather than a literal change of texture as the term suggests.

I really am sorry if that came off as a rude response of my part, but I really would not have had it differently. Besides, creating a different thread would have been a lot more troubling for keeping the votes as closely related as possible. Consider my part an extension to yours, I desire no recognition for this.

@Traevelliath: I apologize if that's too much. Would you please and explain the redundancy of the options, as well as which?

On another note, I also somewhat agree with that last option. It comes out as more or less a signal for and from people who don't really care about the matter whatsoever in the first place. But as Holy said, it's there for people to choose from and presents negligible consequences wheter it's voted or not.

The information of both can be taken into account. Perhaps future polls should address each of the major areas.

Perhaps future polls of Costumes, In-game weapons with different models (Reskins), or Content would help provide more results if they were separated.

@Melonfish

When voting on an option, if you don't vote for said option, it intuitively means you don't want that option. Thus having both More of X and Less of X is kinda redundant. I understand what you're doing, but it makes the poll an overwhelming block of repeating text.

In addition, if you're allowing people to vote for multiple options, you can just make an option like New Models and Reskins of Old Models instead of making multiple variations of essentially the same questions.
