First lets go with the simplest:

Make it so that knights in the GH can have private group chats with all the other knights in the guildhall. This is sort of a combination of Zone chat were only those in the Hall hear you and Guild Chat where only guild mates hear you. This way you can have people in the guildhall (member and non) and address the guild mates in the hall.

This could be useful for guild meeting that you want private but don't want to close off the guildhall. Or carry on conversations in the hall about matters concerning those off in the clockworks.

The second one is my personal favorite inspired in part by Nick's "Lack of Sandboxiness" remark concerning minerals and gate creation.

Part of the problem with that system is that it would be hard to organize the whole community, so my idea is: Guildhall Gates

In the Guildhall gates you can play a custom clockworks run influenced by the minerals you and your guild mates deposit. There would be one gate going down and 2 deposit areas that influence future gates. Guilds could build levels for events, get extra CR for minerals, and bring back the miner achievements (a minor benefit achievements are).

First seems unnecessary, +1 to the second

What about an entirely private, custom gate?

One that ignores other people's deposits and only counts yours?

(So it would be different and have different deposit amounts for every player)

(This would be separate, not replacing the entire guild's gate)

Hm.

Pretty sure you can use zone chat in a guildhall to talk to everyone in the guildhall, use regular chat to talk with people around you, and use guild chat to talk with guildmates. It sounds like what you want is a guild chat only for people in the guildhall... And that's kind of unnecessary.

You could potentially have guild "quiet rooms" where there is a mist gate and when you go into that room only people within that room can see your chat. /g and /z would still work. Additionally these could be set up for different levels of access, such as veterans+, members+, recruits+, etc. Officers might not make too much sense (because /o exists) but guild masters might need a private room.

As for the custom gate, ehhh... As much as I like custom gates I don't want to lock features behind a guild wall. If this sort of thing existed it would be good if you could set the gate deposits to "public" or "private", or "Officer" to allow anyone, guild only, or officers and guild masters only depositing minerals. If this was the case Three Rings should open their guild hall (yes that one) and have their gate(s) eternally set to public. Feel like that would be a good change of pace there.

I do like the quiet rooms idea or more precisely the ability to change access, perhaps there could be an "Intercom System" room where knights (of a rank determined by the GM) can use a machine that allows them to select who hears what they say. Simple checkboxes of what rank guildmates can hear and what locations broadcast to would allow guildmates to address all the officers in Haven, the recruits in the clockworks, or the Veterans in the guildhall.

Getting into a guild is easy, you can literally stand in Haven on a new account and you will eventually get an invite. To make it more helpful and accessible this could be one of the cheaper guild upgrades. That combined with the fact that selling minerals generates CR means that endgame knights in the guild can choose to vendor their minerals and donate to the guild.
Locking the Gate deposit would allow guilds more control over what they become, so it makes sense; last thing you want when constructing a gate is for someone not in your guild to just empty all his/her minerals and screw up the gate you have in development.

I don't know about the Game masters opening their guildhall, but they could perhaps make an alternate one where they can mingle with players and share news about upcoming developments.

Doesn't really matter how easy

Sure it's easy to get invited into a guild. However, some players actively avoid a guild due to A) the investment (time, money, etc), B) the activity (guild chat, specific needs for runs), or C) They just like to be a solo player. Besides, the guild you get invited into might not even have the guild gate in it yet.

You can set your guild gate to private if you don't want non-guild members dumping minerals, but perhaps you want friends from outside the guild to help with a gate, or to officers+ to prevent new recruits from ruining your slime gate.

I don't want to lock the entire gate system (and those achievements) behind a guild wall without an alternative. Three Rings keeping a single gate open to the public would be a good way to make it work, and would encourage new players to join a guild or create their own.
