When I first started playing, I looked on the auction house and found a Spur and Autogun, neither with UVs, both for about 6000 crowns.

I had just enough crowns to buy them both, so I did.

I thought they were in a set because of the similar coloration.

I immediately went to the Advanced Training Hall to test them, and thought, "These must be the best weapons in the entire game! Why did he sell them for so little?"

I quit the next day and didn't return for several years.

-----

When I finally did return and saw that my old knight was still saved, I deleted it. I chose the same starter equips, though (Regal Cuirass and Regal Crescent Helm +Regal Mecha Wings).

When I reached the mission Toy Soldiers, it was too difficult for me to solo, so I got a party of newer knights.

Even then, I had a strategy similar to what I would do now:

First, we all destroy the rocket puppies. They don't respawn, and the battle will be much harder if we have to keep dodging rockets.

After that, Knight1 and I will be attacking the Battlepod itself. Knight3 and Knight4, keep the Mechas off us.

So we completed the final battle like that, and completed the mission for everyone.

well

I walked around Haven, talking to all of the NPCs. The Town Square was totally empty. Everybody congregated in front of the alchemy machines in the Arcade and the Bazaar. They would sell party slots to depths 13 and 23.

Every second day at 20:00 game time I would hurry to the Arcade to deposit my blue and purple minerals. Within the first 30 seconds of a new gate's life, their value would drop from 5 to 2, because of people like me.

I agonized over what weapons and armor to get, and fecklessly. I got a Brandish, before realizing that it didn't go beyond 2 stars. So I switched to Cutter. When they added higher-star brandishes, I went for freeze. :(

One day a LOT of people suddenly showed up wearing weird masks.

I'm just going to say that I could literally copypaste the first half of your story all the way up to which starter equips you chose (I went with the generic Crescent-on-Flak action, though I didn't get mecha wings and such thank goodness).

I spent some time looking through the Auction House, then looking these weapons up on the wiki before deciding which weapons to go with. I originally decided to go for Spur and Brandish which would become Winmillion and Acheron. I went to the auction house with this plan, but I saw this Flourish. I was a little surprised as I didn't know what it was, looked it up on the wiki, and then decided to go for it to complement my to-be shadow sword.
Now I kind of regret not going for Spur at that moment because I ended up never experiencing the forward movement on the 1st strike of combo. I remember facing a few people in T2 LD legitimately using the Arc Razor before the Spur was brought into line with the other swords.

I started out as a disgusting

I started out as a disgusting combuster weilding wolver clone. Quit, deleted, and made a GFC + DSS outfit, with a boss neutralizer. Quit, deleted, made a GFC + Snarbo set, double walk UVs for LD. Quit, deleted, made a COTF + SC set, with FF and GF and Sent, nice clone weaps. Quit, deleted, made a shadowsun account, lit people up in LD. Quit, deleted, made a BKC + SFSA set, double walk, freeze immune to hail, hybrid with that bootleg arcana. Quit, deleted, made a SGSH + SFSA + acheron and storm cheap combo for LD. Quit, deleted, and here we are today....

It is quite a sad story. And by sad, I mean pathetic. Wtf have I done with my life....

Also thought mats were like actual rugs when someone first said the word. I was like, where tf do you use rugs? This was before guild halls.

When I think of my early days of SK, I think of the roller-coaster ride that was guild(s).

My first guild was something like Clockwork Raptors. I didn't know anyone, the guy who recruited me left within a week of me joining, and the other members just did Shadow Lairs back-to-back. So I ended up leaving and joining a guild called Heavenly Swagg. I still remember the GM Akher as the most chill guy I've ever met on SK.

The guild had a rule that, in order to become a veteran, you had to get a helm with a halo on it. Most of the guys went Divine Veil, while most of the girls went Valkyrie. As I was approaching 5*, the first Winterfest rolled around. My god the CE market crashed HARD. It went from mid 7k to below 6k within a couple weeks. I myself got some CE with real $$ and was about to craft a Divine Veil when I thought, "Hrm... I don't want to buy my way to Veteran status... I'm going to earn it! Heavenly Iron Helm!" To this day I still wear a Heavenly Iron Helm on my main costume.

Now I'm going to stop here before I get teary over TAO again...

I played the game up until around 2* level, with a fully heated 2* cobalt set.

Then I went on Youtube and looked up the game.

I saw a video of Magnus killing Vanaduke in beta with Vog Cub, DA (Pre-change), Levi and AP(split dmg), and another with him showing off DA and GF charge attacks in the core.

I started working towards a Wolver set the next day. To this day Vog Cub remains my favorite armor, both stats-wise and aesthetically. Sadly I ended up making DA much later, not as one of my first 5* items, because by the time I got done stalling at 3* playing only LD for a year the DA was not really a good weapon anymore (and I had enough KC for a basically free Voltedge).

Also to this day, my Cobalt Helm, Armor and Shield are still at 2*. I eventually made Leviathan Blade because I wanted to keep using the thing without setting myself on fire.

Other really short story: I remember when missions were put in (I was like 2.5*), I got really mad because I thought they made the game too linear and less unique. I was right.

I joined the game at Steam release, immediately joined the forums and then proceeded to invite all of my friends and bug Bopp while wearing my steam knight mask. Naw, I didn't even know Bopp existed back then nor do I actually go out of my way to bug people.. most of the time XD

Oi memories

I remember starting and loving the arcade area. Played for a few weeks I think but left sometime after Blast Network but before Lockdown... Then came back occasionally after that. Only really started playing seriously in late 2012 or early 2013 I think. I think I had a some 5* items but I wasn't a vanguard when the homecoming came out, so I had the 4* stuff instead.

But when I was a new player... Ppppppffff.... Only thing I can really think of is the wonderful UVs I got on normal-based weapons then. Got construct VH on my leviathan blade back before we had different turret types, thus making that sword stupid useful pretty much everywhere (since constructs were very common back then - gremlin grounds didn't exist so we had x2 construct levels and all turrets were construct), plus my ASI: VH cutter which has been an amazing asset to my arsenal.

Only other thing I can remember would be spinning around Haven fountain with random people but I still do that today so it's not anything to write home about. Didn't really get involved with guilds until about a year ago, so I don't have any guild memories from the start.

I remember back when I created this character, I was going through the Rescue Camp, which was actually quite populated. Many players were gathered around the elevator and I decided to go along and do the level to get to Haven (This was at the time the Mission system did not exist.) After I managed to finish the level, I await for the arrival into Haven were I read the bottom of the page at where I was going. I was surprised, I was being sent BACK to the Rescue Camp despite completing the level. After a bug report was sent, I decided to wait with the other players waiting for something to be done. Eventually Game Masters came to the rescue and examined the situation. They teleported players that were having problems moving from the Rescue Camp to Haven and eventually had an emergency maintenance soon after to fix the situation for any other new players. Veteran players in Haven were joking about how we broke the system. Quite a fun first day despite the maintenance that had to be done.

I remember going on the same mission, killing wolvers with my majestic Proto Gun,I met a person that was probably someone's alternate account.(Knew too much for an apprentice)He told me that I can kill those beasts with a piercing weapon.Instead of listening to him,I never bought one and had like 6K that I probably was never gonna use.I met a couple of nice people,I sort of spammed them until they did Snarby with me,we barely beat him with Proto Swords. Some time after that,I don't remember what happened but I decided to make a new weapon,so I don't remember if I bought it from Auction House or whetever but I got a Flourish recipe and I learned it.I never made the Flourish, now I just have the Flourish in the Alchemy station.Whenever me and him are online at the same time,he asks me when I'll make my Flourish as a joke.FLOURISH TOO OP FOR ME! :P

After several days of running nothing but Snarby, I donated 10000 crowns and a Snarbostuffing to my guild.

The next day, someone declared war on our guild, the guild creator went inactive, and the other guild master left and stated a new guild, taking almost every player in the guild with him. Wasted stuff...

That guild remains inactive even now. Generally someone in that guild opens the game only once every 15 days or so...

As a player who joined on official off-client launch the only major story I remember is being held hostage in Depth 4 as a new knight, as kicking and solo options didn't exist within the game at that time.

The person demanded that I and another Knight give him all his crowns otherwise he wouldn't let us continue. The other guy just left and I sat there for a good forty minutes until the guy holding me hostage finally left. Then I continued on my journey.

I'm a wizard

As I new guy I wanted something cool. Little did I know about fancy tactics and such. When I saw Rhendon I was like: "Woah, a machine gun? I want that!". So one day in Haven before I did any of the 3-2 missions, I bought a Flourish and Autogun from the AH because they looked cool. I chopped through Snarby with my weapon and then died 15 times to Royal Jelly.

I sat in front of haven for a solid 20 minutes waiting for those NPCs to get off those computers so I could use them. I thought they were info terminals or something along those lines.
----
I thought the Vog Cub Coat set was best for vanduke because it was on fire.
----
Winmillion was my favorite weapon.
----
CE sold for 5.5k crowns for 100. (Crazy, right?)

Ah, the classic hostage situation. I like to pretend to do that to mess with people when they die and won't spark-- tell them they'd better all give me 1,000 crowns or else no dice on that elevator to the treasure room on GitM, DaN, or whatever I'm doing. I've never actually made anyone pay though; I just do it for the reactions. The begging and pleading is music to my ears.

MY story

I first discovered Spiral Knights Via TF2.

It may sound cheezy but I really wanted the spiral sallet, as I thought it looked great

I logged on through steam, and instantly loved it.

From then on, ALL my free time was occupied by Spiral knights. I would surf the wiki for the weapons I wanted. I stumbled upon the Divine avenger.
As soon as I saw it, I knew it would be my first weapon.

When I reached Haven, and saw all the vanguards, and thier gear I was soooo awed.

Now this was back in the Mist energy days, where I could only do 10 floors per day. Man those days are MIST (haha a pun)

I would ritually log on and play 10 floors, Usually missions.

Then I discovered rolling uv's on brandishes.

I swear, I rolled over 20-30 uvs on probably 70 brandishes, and only a few were worth it.

The day I got a ctr High, I sold it on the AH for about 100kcr.

Now, I though, I was funded enough to get the Divine Avenger.

As soon as I saw that I needed to kill the Jelly King, (being 2* i had no idea what it was), I began to beg vanguards to take me on missions, and since you had to pay energy, they forced me to pay them for each level in the Jelly king mission.

I had to pay roughly 2k cr per level, 3 levels per run, 3 tokens per run, 20 tokens total, so about 6k per 3 tokens, 7 runs total, and by the end of it all, I paid about 42k in getting the sword. When I saw the 5* recipe cost 25k cr and the 4* recipe cost 10k, and I only had roughly 60k left, I said "i can do this"

I made the 4* avenger

Heated it, through Jelly , now that I had access to it, and finally made the Divine Avenger.

By now, I had completely neglected my armor, shields, and guns, so I was a cobalt noob running around swinging divine avenger

It was a sight to see.

I had completely forgotten about tf2, and was forever enveloped in the SK community. I have changed accounts from the old one, so I no longer have the Divine avenger, or the legacy achievements, But BOY, do I remember those days :D

That Is my story
