Nope, no mas. No mas, no mas, no mas.

=================

Hi there probably-wonderful-diehard-forum-lurkers. This is a giveaway thread that does not involve discussing the game Spiral Knights, and I am not attempting to sell or buy or trade my junk for other people's junk. I am giving junk away provided that certain procedures are followed. So... that's why I posted this in Gremlin Chatter.

Now that that's clear--
GOT STEAM? Got some time to blow? Want some FREE STEAM KEYS?
YES, kinda, and YEHEAH?
Wonderful! Have some emotionless cookies made of steam-keys.

Over-complicated, mostly-immutable giveaway procedure:

Step 1) Post solely your Spiral Knights IGN and two integers from 1 to 48 (ONE to FORTY-EIGHT only pl0x, y muchas gracias). 1 and 48 are valid numbers to choose from.

Step 2) I will check back on this thread every now and then (once a day?), and you will receive mail to your posted IGN. The message will be untitled in the subject line, and the body of the message will include a Steam key corresponding to the first number you included in your forum post.

Step 3) To receive the second Steam key, request that one of your Spiral Knight friends with a Steam account send in-game mail to the dude that sent you your first Steam key. Your informed friend MUST include in the mailed message: the entire steam key (not case-sensitive) given to you.

Step 4) Once I have reviewed the mail sent following "Step 3" and find that the Steam key code in the message matches a Steam key that I have previously given away-- I will mail you a second Steam key corresponding to the second number you included in your forum post. I will also mail your friend from "Step 3" a random Steam key.

Anything not following the above procedures will produce probably nothing.
If you need a key to be mailed to you again, send me a letter so I can send you the key again. I have a spreadsheet to keep track of these things. ^u^

Restrictions and Stuff to consider:

- I have approximately 70 keys to give away. So, first come, first serve: once a number has been posted, I will disregard any further posts repeating that number. To illustrate, if the following two example posts were fo' real, I would ignore Post#42 completely because 48 was already claimed:

  • Post#33: IGN Obviouslyabot 1 n 48
  • Post#42: It's Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious 42 48

- Even though I have approximately 70 keys to give away, only integers 1 through 48 are valid to include in your post. Any other numbers will be ignored. So if for example, a user posted 7 and 57, I will regard that post as having claimed only the number 7. There is no key assigned outside the range of integers 1 through 48.
- If the steam key I mailed ya doesn't work, well, too bad.
- I will consider only the first valid post per IGN. To elaborate: if, following the steps on the giveaway procedure, person A makes a post to claim a pair of numbers and makes another post later down the thread to claim a different pair of numbers, I will only regard their first post claiming a pair of numbers and give them the keys corresponding to those numbers. If person A's friend (person B) from Step 3 decides to claim some keys on the thread and use person A for Step 3, that's totally fine. I'll send person A a key, too.
- The variety of games that will be given away are like a box of chocolates: you never know what you're gonna get, and who cares what they are really because CANDY.
- There is no method of investigating a Steam key to verify what game it would activate without actually activating the game product for an account. 'Very box-o'-chocolatesy.
- Once I do get back to check this thread and have no more Steam keys to give away, I will: announce in a new post that the opportunity for obtaining Steam keys would be then closed, graveyard this thread, and not be able to give away any more Steam keys.
- Game monetary values range from 4-25 USD. The mean of those values is ~12.14 and median is 10.

As of Saturday, October 23, 12am-ish PST:

Numbers not yet claimed/reserved--
2-5
8
14
16
18-21
24-28

EDITS:
Oct 6, 3pm PST: I've removed the time restriction to claim numbers so that all/most of the poor, orphaned, spare game-keys will find a home. Once there are no more keys to give away and/or the giveaway is over, I will graveyard this thread. Also, I'll check back on this thread around 10pm-12am PST er'ryday now (hopefully) to update it and mail away more keys. ty, you guys are all wonderful people.

Oct 23, 12a PST: I seem to have not checked back in a very long while... Nice to see the Punkin' King's back.

Remember, don't shoot food.

IGN: Pipipipipi, I choose 12 and 17.

I'm probably not going to bother with the second number.

This post is not part of this giveaway.

Got some questions. If you find one disgusting then I'm sorry.

Are DLC also given out?
Do I have to redeem a Steam Key before mailing it to my friend?
What my friend has to put in the mail actually?
Does that mean I will get 3 keys overall? (2 keys for me, 1 for my friend)
Is this giveaway true or is it a scam?

@Matik

/wipes dust off of those questions
0.o No, nothing disgusting here.

'Not a scam. What do I get out of this anyway? Nathing. I have a buncha game-keys I don't care for or can't use from too many Humble Bundles over the past... few years. I was hoping to trade them away for CE evennnnnntually, but then, it's hard to establish trust with people who don't know me, and I would rather give away keys to close friends than sell them. :c Also, I need to catch up on schoolwork, so I don't have time for all the games I haven't even gotten to yet. :C

Some of the two or three games did come with DLC which I will send along with the game's key. Someone here's already claimed a number corresponding to a card game that does come with dlc keys. ;3

Your trusty friend needs to include the key that I sent you in the body of their message. An example of what your friend could send:
Subject: blahblahblahwhatever
Body: Hi, how r u. Am gud. abcde-1234f-567gh tralalalalapinecones so delishous

^Then I'd check that key in the example message (abcde-1234f-567gh) against all the keys I've already mailed to people. If you claimed the key already, who cares, you've used it and it can't be used again. :P If you haven't claimed that key and asked your friend to mail me that key, it may be likely that your friend will try & use that key his or herself (given the chance that human curiousity will activate). In the latter case, you'll still get another key, and your wonderful friend will also get a key. (so, 1 key for you, 2 for your friend if that ever happens? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This is some silly thing that verifies nothing for me but that the people receiving these things are legit people. I won't know or care if you'd be using alts, but at least some/all of the keys will be claimed by real-live human beings.

'And yes, for every time those Four Steps in the Over-Complicated Mostly-Immutable Giveaway Procedure is completed, I will have given away three keys (two for the early bird and one for the early bird's friend. :B

As of the publishing of this post, it is ~12:25 PST. Tell your friends! ^u^

EDIT: (Oct. 6, ~2:50pm-ish PST)
- To be clear about the 3 keys, I will send a separate letter to your friend with a steam key for them. 2 for you, 1 for the bun.
- I've decided to let the number-claiming continue until all the available numbers are claimed so that even the cheap games find a home in someone's library. :D Then I will graveyard this thread once the giveaway's totally over.

I just realized I have no idea how to redeem a steam key.

(Also, can somebody who posted in this thread be the friend?)

@Crazee Pi

Bottom left corner, there is a Add Game Button. Click it and then click Activate a Steam Product. Enter the code, press NEXT and you will see what games you acquired. Click next and you will see the installation preparation screen of the game you got.

And we are Steam friends, you can send me the code and I will send back to that guy.

On a side note, is it possible to get a Steam Refund from these keys? I saw the info about the game I got (Talisman Digital Edition) and the Metacritic rating is 51, so I would come for a Refund and you know what.
Also check this Refund process.

(Get a game > Check game details > Check Metacritic & reviews > WAT 51 RATE?! > Play > Refund > YAY I CAN GET TERRATECH! > Buy TerraTech > Get a second key > Repeat step 1-7, with step 1 being WAT ## RATE?! and step 7 being YAY I CAN GET R&D PACK YAY! > Profit :steamhappy: > Show my YouTube idol Blitzkriegsler what I can do!)

@Crazee-Pi
Yes! A player may make only one post to claim a pair of numbers for themselves, but the same person can be everyone's friend for Step Three, too.
--> How to use Steam Key to open Steam Door <-- Or if you're using a skin on your steamclient (Metro makes font so clear @_@), look around willy-nilly for "Activate a Steam Product" tucked away in some menu or other.

@Matick
Nope! ^u^ I obtained these keys through Humble Bundle purchases not made through Steam nor made using Steam Wallet funds. I've had all of these keys for a FLIPPING long anyway.
I don't have Terratech... v︵v

This is really cool of you!

<- This is my IGN. I would like number 13, please. I don't think I'll do the second set, so I guess I'll pass it on. :Y (It WOULD be 29, if it's mandatory. If not, then shoo, integers.)
