Nick Popovich left Three Rings almost two years ago? Dang. Just, dang.
I'm still gonna play this when I get a new computer.

What you might not have known is 1 of the 3 engineers previously listed in the credits left in August this year.
I'm hoping that they didn't leave because of some BS SEGA's throwing at them. Because that seems like a really likely reason for the events of the past couple months, what with the privacy policy and all.
It's been dying a slow death for several years now. At this point, it'd be more accurate to say SK's barely surviving. It will probably continue to survive for much longer.
I've been hearing about how Spiral Knights was dying since May 2011, if not before. Yes, it's slowly dying, but it's still here, so enjoy it while you can.
P.S. You and I are also slowly dying. Don't spend your precious time fretting about it. Just enjoy what you have.
If you want to emphasize text, use the emphasis or strong html tags, that's what they're there for. It annoys me when people use the <a> function with no href parameter and I go to repair the link via the source to find that there's no link.
They're actually hiring for the lead designer (Nick's position) right now. It's on their LinkedIn page.
So just for the sake of expanding our minds and feeding our brains...
What would OOO have to do to bring SK out from its decaying self?
Is your body ready for Fehzor's ultimate plan for success? It's the ultimate, full of exclamation marks and everything.
STEP ONE:
Create and release new content... at a rate of at least once per month!
GASP!
HOW IS IT EVEN POSSIBLE????
I don't even have to know! It's not my job to make it happen!
If I had to guess I'd say to have a team of people that works on the game and a lead designer! I'd also have to suggest not ditching everything for a phone game! Work on both! I love the phone game! WOOOO!
STEP TWO:
Attempt to talk to people and get them excited! The policy of telling us nothing, never advertising and never addressing any concerns isn't healthy!
GASP!
WHAT IF THE PLAYERS HYPE SOMETHING AND WE DON'T DELIVER OR A DEV SAYS SOMETHING ABOUT THE SUPERBOWL...
Think of it like a relationship! Neglect is a form of emotional abuse! If what you're saying is offending them, never talking to them again isn't going to solve things! Guess what?!?!?!? IT IS A RELATIONSHIP, DOG! IT IS! IT IS!
@Fehzor
Yet another excellently made post with advice that would undoubtedly improve this game (no sarcasm here for real, I completely agree with you). Only gonna be ignored by OOO again, but a valiant effort has been made.
Yeah, I don't think this game'll be saved, but hell, it's damned fun so I'll enjoy it for whatever amount of time I'll be able to.
Well, if spiral knights dies, god help our lives...
Unless you know what your doing with it. xD
So...Quite simply...
Add new content.
That be the hardest and probably most costly, but at a rate of once a month probably wouldn't rip off anyone's financial testicles.
Probably.
And...Talk to the players?
This one has me a bit squeamish actually, and its not because of my resistance to social acceptance.
Sure I wouldn't mind having the devs give us an update occasionally but...
Imagine the the devs have hyped something, and some evil black market magic comes in and royally F*cks something up than jelly being burned alive.
forcing everything on that "Something" have to burned down to the ground.
How exactly does one break the news to that population...?
Add new content. That be the hardest and probably most costly
The new content added doesn't have to be 100% new and glorious every time or even every other time, it just has to be enough to get me excited and want to play the game.. like a set of balance tweaks or a couple new weapons, or a few new level parts for compounds/clockwork tunnels.
How exactly does one break the news to that population...?
Bad things will happen regardless of whether the devs talk to us and we'll be disappointed regardless. What telling us does is allow the developers to sway their image and control things better... and if they don't, it's all left up in the air and we're seeing why that's a bad idea. So how do you break the news? Compensation and good explanation.
Lets say the gunner update was delayed again-
Dear Knights, Nick's leaving us, asteroids hitting SEGA headquarters and the death of 10 employees by way of an ancient evil has caused many issues with development and we are truly struggling to collect ourselves. The gunner update will likely take much longer than was anticipated, so please be understanding. As compensation, all knights will receive a single surprise box and 100 CE. Thanks, OOO.
I mean yea, I'd be disappointed but I'd feel a lot better than just having no idea what's going on and being blamed for feeling the hype train. Who knows, maybe I'd even buy some boxes to help them out or something.
I just think the devs are going all Half Life 3 on us.
We're hyping an upcoming release to something it could never dream of being and they're worried that if they'll release it we'll all be disappointed.
I think it's less the devs' faults and more SEGA's fault. Remember that SEGA has been making poor decisions for years now. Splitting their already small development staff for Sonic's 15th; rushing almost every game they make to meet a certain deadline rather than move the deadline to a later date like every other sane company does; trying to make a game practically every year a la Call of Duty, only with far smaller staff. Need I continue?
No...I think you've already shown segas incompetence.
Still, while the time schedule for content could be up for debate.
Definitely some conversation from the devs on what the hell is going on couldn't hurt.
I mean...its free after all.
Just post some words on the forums to signify they ain't dead.
How hard can that be?
@Warpmonger
Posting on forums, especially with how ravenous the community has been on this topic, is/would be a strong time commitment on their part.
I'm not excusing them, but time doesn't appear as something they have available.
The occasional acknowledgement can go a very long way.
We have to add new content. It's the only thing that will save this game.
I believe that the GMs/Eurydice have talking to us about whatever in their job description, and they do that on occasion which is nice.. but they never talk to us about big things. This isn't exactly their fault, but rather a matter of policy set by.. someone or some group of people.
That is to say that the GMs/Eurydice and producers could plausibly exchange emails and agree to let us in on some of what is happening behind the scenes. Something like 'there will be no new halloween event this year because we're working on something way cooler that will come out the first Wednesday of November!' Oh how I can dream but really.
Alternatively, yes, the developers could just log on to the forums and, since there are only 5-10 people still posting, come to our slumber parties and braid our hair with us and maybe we will even bake cookies who knows.
you are so late that nick actually developed another game while you were gone.
