First, as a disclaimer, I'd like to verify that I am not in fact hacking, so please don't hit me with a crowbar.
.
Anyway,
I was poking around in the SK files a bit some time back, and got a tad bit overeager with model replacing. Going to rsrc/characters/pc/model_level.dat, I tried replacing it with a mewkat model for a bit of clientside entertainment.
This is where things went a bit awry. Logging back into Spiral Knights, two of my three Knights had changed profiles to "Alucardlegolas", and choosing the unaffected profile, my own, the game would not start.
.
So, I have two questions for anyone who cares to listen:
1) Who is "Alucardlegolas"?
2) Why does swapping the model_level file do this?
.
Thanks.

algorithms are the solutions to any problem.

alucardlegolas is the default name for the knight when it fails to load. someone was a fan of castlevania and someone was a fan of lord of the rings.
programming is wierd. things break for no apparent reason and if something breaks it can break totally unrelated things. so don't be surprised, it's totally normal.
