That actually makes a lot of sense. I had wondered if there was a tortodrone shell hidden away somewhere, but the giant nick statue would fit.

it was nick
the box was sitting in the haven garden for awhile and was replaced by the statue of nick
its no mystery why it was there: box sits in haven, we find a statue in that exact place, thats all there is to it
The release notes don't say, except that it was completed in release 2014-04-02. Was it the impostocube statue in the garden of the town square? Nick left a couple of months before that.
