Hot Orbs... (new alchemizing idea)

So there's a lot of complaining about fire crystals, in particular the Radiants. Many people would like for Radiant Fire crystals to easier to find, without having to grind in FSC or DaN. So before anyone says that I'm not for these ideas let me just say that I am totally for these ideas.

However....... if this was implemented players would be able to very rapidly craft and heat items. So what could be used to slow them down?

I would like to propose that a large number of Fire crystals be needed to alchemize an item.
How would I go about this? I would introduce 2 new rarities.

Cool Orbs and Hot Orbs. Hot Orbs are basically what we have right now with the current Orbs of Alchemy, but Cool Orbs would be Orbs found in the Clockworks and can't be used in crafting armor, shields, or weapons.

In order to make a Cool Orb a Hot Orb you will need.... Fire Crystals...
Players would be able to purchase these recipes for super low prices in the Bazaar (to prevent the trouble that was had when fire crystals an their recipes were introduced; yeah that's right, those fire crystal recipes that some of you got in the mail were in your typical expiring mail so some players never got these recipes)

Example: In order to turn your Cool Eternal Orb into a Hot Eternal Orb you will need 100 Shining Fire Crystals, one Cool Eternal Orb, and 10 Cr.

So, this little idea makes it so that having radiant Fire crystals in earlier levels OK since players are now held back by having to "heat" any Orbs they find in the clockworks.

Of course all Orbs in your inventory and AH would turn into Hot Orbs and you would now be able to purchase Cool Orbs from the Supply Depot for a lower price (but not lower than the Orb plus the Crystals to craft it into a Hot Orb) once this is implemented.

Why would you Need 4 star fire crystals to heat a 5 star orb?

Out of what I got, there will be more radiants around, but no more 'Hot Orbs' will drop.

It sounds like an interesting concept that actually makes getting a new 5 star item harder, but after you got the 5 star item, you can heat it up faster.

@ Jenovas

Needing lower star fire crystals to craft up Cool orbs would mean that you would still have a use for lower tier fire crystals. If it needed same tier fire crystals that would defeat the purpose of this whole idea to make radiants easier to get and you'd end up with little or no Hot orbs And Radiants but still have enough shining fire crystals to choke a tortodrone.

Sounds really complicated. Compare this crafting system to the one from say, Don't Starve-

http://dont-starve-game.wikia.com/wiki/Crafting

To craft things the player must follow these steps:

1. Pick up stuff off the ground as you explore the world
2. Open the crafting menu, sometimes from a crafting object
3. Select the thing you want to make (using the materials you found) and make it.

The bulk of crafting systems are carbon copies of ours, but without orbs or fire crystals in the way.. and you want to make it more complicated-

1. Find the recipe for the item
2. Gather the materials for the thing
3. Play levels to gather heat on the orbs
4. Use the forge to heat orbs
5. Go to an alchemy station and hit craft
6. Find heat crystals by playing levels
7. Apply heat crystals to the item itself
8. Repeat steps one through six for every upgrade

I'd rather we have something simpler, rather than more complicated.

I also worry that it doesn't solve the issue- it seeks to slow progress.. whereas the purpose of having more areas to farm, or easier radiant fire crystals, is to make the progress more bearable. If they truly cared about rarity sales they would tweak prices in the supply depot in their favor- this makes it desirable for players to go through the supply depot, rather than the grind. As it is, heating 5* gear costs close to 20 dollars worth of energy... I could either heat my gear in this one game, or purchase multiple other games.

Imagine-

400 energy = 500 radiant fire crystals
200 energy = 500 shinning fire crystals
100 energy = 500 glowing fire crystals
50 energy = 500 2* fire crystals

Then, make it to where 3* and 4* fire crystals are quite a bit more rare- think 1/5 as common as they are now for 3* fire crystals and 1/10th as common for 4*. Make 5* orbs harder to get (since those are silly) and you've got the whole mess sorted-

Crafting Thing...Source...Subsource
Materials...Monsters...Grim/Forge/Primal Sparks
Orbs...Boxes...Supply Depot
Fire Crystals...Supply Depot...Boxes

Where the source is the main flow and the subsource serves the purpose of equalizing drop rates- if you have A TON of energy, you can spend some of it on orbs in addition to fire crystals. If you have a ton of time you can spend it on getting fire crystals... but generally, you'd be buying fire crystals and finding materials and orbs.

You misunderstand

I never said you would heat the orbs like items....

I said that you would use Cool Orbs and Fire crystals to CRAFT Hot Orbs. As I mentioned these are recipe items just like crafting weapons you would need to collect the items prior to Alchemizing them.

In short this has nothing to do with killing monsters and everything to do with alchemy machines.
