Put the blast network/bomberman bombs into PvE

Basically, a brandish charge that fires in the cardinal directions and is a bomb, which is to say the bomb from bomberman but in Spiral Knights terminology.

Bombers have been wanting a steady DPS bomb for a while now and something simple but effective like this is borderline necessary to making bomber a viable class. Shard bombs come close to offering this, but are rather lacking in the damage department and come with what is often cited as crazy unpredictable knockback- two things that make for a poor basic DPS option.

Details, for those interested in 'fleshing out'-

Charge time: Slightly less than brandish but about the same. Basically brandish charge time, but with a built in CTR +1.

The brandish charge-swipe would be done directly in the middle explosion, along with 4 hits surrounding it from the first 4 explosions spawned to hit enemies really close in hard. Enemies to the side of the explosions would 'ride the wave' out a bit, dealing about as much damage. Upgrading the bomb would add explosions, just like upgrading brandishes adds explosions. So if they were dead center, they wouldn't move at all and would take 4x explosions + initial hit. If they were slightly off they would take 2x explosions + initial and if they were slightly on the cardinal direction they would ride the wave outwards. If they were hit midway, they would continue to ride the wave.

I can see this coming in the following flavors:
-Elemental/normal
-Elemental/normal + stun
-Elemental/normal + undead max + fiend max
-Shadow/normal + fire
-Shadow/normal + gremlin max + construct max
-Possibly some sort of normal/normal variant- yes, it would deal normal twice. This gives it the same damage ramp up.

But really most variants would be welcome. Rather than giving the pure damage variants more damage, it would be neat to give them additional explosions. I propose +2 on the 5*, with +1 on the lower star variants.

5* = 7
4* = 5
3* = 4 (first branching option)
2* = 3

Woah woah woah, slow down there Syrup pants! Are you plotting to secretly re-implement RSS? I thought the devs made it clear: NO BOMBING FUN ALLOWED

There's a real concern in there somewhere- the difference between it and old RSS is that it would do actual AoE damage, in an actual area. It would also not bridge over gaps, and would not be able to hit ALL the times when something is in the middle- only 4 + charge, which is the same as what a brandish charge does. These things do not limit its power enormously, but do limit the extent to how gun-like it is. The reason it isn't sword-like is because of how such a bomb would have to be used.. place it, run off, have it explode throughout a crowd.

Intresting, but it seems

Intresting, but it seems rather redundant as the brandish lines basically do the same thing, and they have status, AND they can swing making them more versatile than BN bombs. Perhaps the saving grace for this idea is the damge bonus VS slimes and gremlins you mentioned. Another interesting idea is if they made a piercing version of these bombs. We currently have like maybe 1 maybe 2 piercing bomb lines, and because there are no piercing brandishes this could be the 1-up from the swords. Even then though I feel they're more or less situational (then again, most bombs are)

It does seem a little gun-like and too predictable.

The brandish lines basically do the same thing but they don't.

Faster to charge + covers 4x as much area as a brandish charge + more explosions = higher potential DPS, much better handling of crowds and faster to roll out the heavy damage. Whereas brandishes offer a quick and easy finishing move in their 3 hit combo and more maneuverability, these would offer raw DPS when facing crowds.

Most importantly, this is a bomb and gives us new tactics- like getting enemies to stand on the middle as it detonates, negating all knockback.

PS- there are 3 piercing DPS bombs, 4 normal and shadow DPS bombs and 1 elemental DPS bomb.

Those counts are a bit off, I think...

Either there are only 3 shadow DPS bombs, or 2 elemental DPS bomb. Depends on what you consider a DPS bomb.

Now, for how you would be correct: The vortex bombs - Do you consider those DPS bombs?

If Graviton is a DPS but you don't consider Electron DPS, then the counts would be correct.

I counted graviton but not electron because graviton is supposed to be a damage variant; electron/celestial/obsidian do the same damage as haze bombs. If we're counting only "quality" bombs, the count would probably be something like-

Normal: Debatably only 2 = nitro/shards, 4 counting other blast bombs
Elemental: 1 = Shards
Piercing: 2 = shads/DBB
Shadow: 2 = Dark retribution/Shards

Either way, elemental is at a huge disadvantage whereas piercing is fairly average. Shadow is at a similar disadvantage until/unless you purchase operation crimson hammer, which flips everything in shadow's favor. That bomb is a monster.
