With Christmas on the way, Knights of Finland is back with a costume contest!

~JUDGING~

I will be judging with my fellow Guild Master See-Eppo. Things that we are looking for from a costume are good usage of colors, creativity and originality.

~CATEGORIES~
(Only one entry for each category!)

How does your costume fit with your surroundings? Find a nice spot and show us! Be creative!
These entries all require extra screenshot, how to take it is explained in the rules section.

8. Core (This originally as supposed to mean core from the inside because of those new missions, but for some reason everyone thought it was debth 29 with the TVs and where you can look at the core from the outside. So rather than makign everyone change, we're allowing BOTH.

Is there a story behind your entry? Feel free to explain why you chose your background spots! It will help us understand your screenshot better, but it won’t give you any advantage in winning.
Is your rank stopping you from entering to categories 4-8? Ask a vanguard to help you!

~PRIZES~
In every category, there will be prizes for first, second, and third places.
- 1st place gets 100k crowns.
- 2nd place gets 50k crowns.
- 3rd place gets 25k crowns.
- Honorable mentions win small prizes.

If a category ends up having only 5 entries or less, only 1st place will receive prize. It’ll be only fair that not over 50% will win (not to mention that there might be honorable mentions as well). Of course we will expect more entries than that for every category. This is mentioned so that there will be no complains if such thing will happen.

~RULES~ (READ!!)

If you want to enter to the contest, post 2 pictures of your character (in-game screenshots) and for categories 2-8 post also 1 extra picture without inspect for each entry. How to take the screenshots right:

1st screenshot:
-Open inspect (press P)
-Maks sure you have full inspect on (Character options -> [X] Allow Full Inspect)
-Make your knight face front so we can see the front side.
-Position your cursor over the helmet, so that it will show the description of the helm and UVs and so on.
-Take screenshot!
-EXAMPLE: [Link]

2nd screenshot:
-Open inspect (press P)
-Make sure you have full inspect on (Character options -> [X] Allow Full Inspect)
-Make your knight face back so we can see the backside.
-Position your cursor over the armor, so that it will show the description of the armor and UVs and so on.
-Take screenshot!
-EXAMPLE: [Link]

For categories 2-8 extra background screenshot:
-Find a place from the category area where you want to take the screenshot in. Close all in-game windows (social, arsenal etc.)
-Make your knight face front so we can see the costume properly. In-game zoom is preferred for detailed look but not required.
-Clear the chat with /clear command. Do not say anything so we can see full background + knight. However you are allowed to do wave/salute/sit kind of commands.
-Take screenshot!
-EXAMPLE: [Link]

Screenshots that are not taken the right way won't be accepted!

The reason why inspect must be on and why we must see the descriptions etc is because we must see all accessories that you are wearing. If you did not understand, check the links! They help! Taking screenshots through steam can be done by pressing F12 when your character is up on the screen. Save images to steam or to other website and post the link to the forum post.

For the 1st category (Christmas) you are allowed to preview different personal color and different eyes when you are taking screenshots. You are NOT allowed to use winterfest temporary costume helms!
ADVICE: Personal color and eyes are huge part of the costume! Pay attention to it! Use it to your advantage!
For categories 2-8 you are not allowed to preview different personal color or different eyes when taking the screenshots.
WHY: When you’re taking the extra screenshot (the background one), the color/eyes you inspected won’t stay on. That’s why do not inspect them in the first screenshots either.

You are allowed to use weapons and shields.
Use of weapons and shields to match your costume matter greatly and are allowed, but they are not required.
ADVICE: Do not wear weapons or shield if you are not sure if they’ll fit to the costume!

If you use name change pass before award ceremony, INFORM US!

~DEADLINE~ (EXTENDED!)

January 9th is the FINAL DAY when you may submit your entries. Entries submitted after midnight London time won’t be accepted. You’ll have plenty of time to plan and submit your entries. Then we will have enough time to judge all the entries. Don’t leave submitting to the last day!

The reason why the deadline had to be extened was the lack of entries. I hope this way more people will join and I hope everyone would tell their friends and guild even if they couldn't enter the contest themselves. I hope you all understand!

~WHO CAN ENTER?~

We believe that it’s all about how you use costumes and accessories rather that how much it is worth/how much you paid for it.

We do NOT tolerate “I will never win”, “My costumes are not good enough” and “Only rich people win” attitudes! I personally try to create categories in the way that the contest will be fair between “free to play” and “pay to win” players. These contests are supposed to be fun for all and that is why we host these in the first place. Therefore we encourage everyone to enter. So you who are reading this post, you MUST enter! We hope to see as many people entering to this contest as possible!

~AWARDS CEREMONY~

Ceremony where winners will be revealed and prizes will be given will be held in Knights of Finland guild hall on January 16th at 10:00 pm Friday night by London Time (GMT +0). Being present is not required; we will mail all prizes to all winners who are not present.

Story: As my point of view and as the promo images stated, Rose Knights are fencers, and the toothpick weapon is a piercing type, perfect to kill beast types in this image, wolvers. So I thought of using it instead of a obvious snarbolax set or any other wolver that also occurred to my mind but i'm avoiding the most obvious choices to fit within the scene.

Story: For this I took from base idea the fact that Deadly Virulisk set has damage vs slime VH, and I thought they'd be natural enemies, even though virulisks inflict piercing damage and slimes are resistant to piercing... Also the colors within Deadly Virulisk, it's almost like it would be camouflage to hide from the enemie slime. And I also removed any possible idea of using a slime set, that's pretty much obvious, specially Jelly King, Ice Queen wouldn't fit at all xD.

Following the Champion of the Spiral Knights' victory over Lord Vanaduke, Herex's gremlins sneak through the Firestorm Citadel to use the artifact in order to open the Core and release the Swarm, only a few brave, skilled gremlins scouted ahead to eliminate any threats!

The moment I set eyes on the polar day wolf hood on release, I knew I had to have it. Then the winterfest coats during the same year showed up in the Supply Depot on sale and this costume was born. It has taken a couple years but at last, the costume has been perfected. It is my most favorite loadout but I only use it during Winterfest to keep it special. ^3^

I'll be editing this later to add my Built to Destroy entry, photobucket and I aren't getting along at this time. |D

Good luck to everyone, really digging all the costumes I'm seeing! :D

EDIT: I made a change for the better for my Christmas entry so I've changed the links. c: Replaced the crest of winter with a freeze vial bandolier.

7 - Firestorm Citadel

category 7:
Firestorm Citadel is a very hot place, making it a great place to use your beachwear! A hot clothing for a hot place! Its a fight place i know, but who says you cant be sexy and strong? plus you can move faster with less clothes :3

Whats the fun of fighting alone? Better with fellows dont you think? thinking about that my entry will be double. Here's my photos of me and my girlfriend being sexy and powerfull with beachwear in front of Lord Vanaduke, he can't handle it!

Christmas Entry: "The Nutcracker"

Front, Back

Story: Impostoclaus has tasked his Devilite Helper Randolph to summon mecha nutcrackers from the robot underworld to protect him. They come equipped with cheerful AI, a tasty blade, and an oven mitt to get those warm toasty cookies out of the oven. As a bonus, they smell faintly of holly and gingerbread, sprayed heavily upon them to cover that brimstone smell. Nutcracker skills include: cracking grinchlins, baking, and throwing plates of cookies into Impostoclaus' face. This may or may not be a malfunction, but it seems to help! Mecha Nutcracker 2.0 planned fixes: Increase duration of activity after wind-up, and ensure kissing behavior under forbidden fruit hung in doorways.

Haven (Winter) Entry: "Bosco's Buddies"

Story: Bosco needed help celebrating the holidays. So he put a sweater on a mecha knight (me). Instead of spazzing out, that extra power is used to put some spirit into flashing lights, and thankfully, this seems to take the aggression right out of the mecha. I guess shiny objects are distracting for everyone! This mecha model comes equipped with a pack of fireworks for the new year's celebration. Stay buzzy...er, busy, Bosco! And thanks for teaching us how to make things.

I totally want Bosco's alchemy hat.

Story: I felt bad for the snipes in our hall, which we freeze over for the holidays. So I sit with them to keep them warm until they find their cute little red hats for Winterfest. I even share my scarf, despite the cold I feel! So we huddle together. If only there were penguin snipes...

Gloaming Wildwoods Entry: "Snack Time"

Front, Back, Action Shot

Story: I use a very simple "costume" here, attempting to seem as docile, friendly, and chroma-like as possible. Don't worry, they find it flattering. I heard from various sources that lizards love flan, and behave badly to get jelly from Impostoclaus. I felt bad, so I brought this hungry, suffering baby in the Wildwoods a snack. How can this poor little guy compete with those wolvers!? My jelly shield looks tasty to me even. Like a sucker top. The lizard suit is influencing me!

Story: Turrets are underrepresented in the Slime Kingdoms. They are installed haphazardly until a polyp can properly grow instead. I have decided to defend the reputation of turrets, because Love Puppies have saved my life more than a few times. I return their favors by making sure nobody can reach the royal goo. Hoping the slimes treat us...er I mean, them... better.

Story: Slimes get your gameface on! Some slimes are from space. Like knights, they crash here and become trapped. They adapt, as knights do. Finding niches and surviving. But horrible gremlins experiment on them. I/we are a royal space slime, and have been sent from the great Jam Jar in the celestial cosmos to prevent a shocking gremlin experiment running underneath Project R, saving our silvery slime siblings in the process (we are all connected by nodes, and we hear with our Node Receiver). The mohawk aids in piercing headbutting. The Spiral Order never knew of this "compound 80 experiment" because our mission was successful.

80 because that's the atomic number of mercury.

Story behind this one is two parts.

Part one is a bit boring and more of a personal homage, this was the set I used in my skill entrance test to get into Reign of Chaos. This is a guild some of the older players probably remember, but as of the past few years has become inactive, but we were pretty significant at that time. This was all before Lockdown was added, so the test to see if you were good enough to get in was to complete a FSC run with an Officer or higher, and at the end of the run they would say whether you made it or not. First time I tried the test, I was just recently an all 5* knight, and I figured I would definitely be good enough to get in. I wasn't. None of my equipment at that time was tailored for FSC and I hadn't had much experience with it before, so I died multiple times in the first level. The Officer told me I could try again in 2 weeks and made some suggestions regarding equipment, and so for the next two weeks it was the gauntlet. I ran FSC twice a day for every day those 2 weeks, traded out my Wild Hunting Blade for a Divine Avenger, my Aegis for a Crest of Almire, and my Azure Guardian Helm for a Wyvern Scale Helm, as I didn't get enough time to upgrade it to a Dragon Scale Helm before the test. I went in to the next test headstrong, and finished the run without even a single death. At the end of D27, the Officer invited me to the guild, then asked if I wanted to fight Vanaduke with the guild. I accepted, and then he invited two other guild mates, and we went on to fight Vanaduke. At the start of that level, right where I took the screenshot for the category, the party reiterated 'Welcome to the guild' and we saluted right there before going on to beat the boss.

Part two, I think dragons fit in well with the scenery in Firestorm Citadel.

CARDBOARD WING TAKEOVER

Category #2 - Haven

Being my first Winterfest I expected a lot more white than we got, because you can't have winter without snow. So to blend in I chose the most white I could and (thankfully) we got a nice little vial bando to match the occasion. I chose to stand by good old friend Punch since he looks a bit weird like my costume, and after all he has robbed us all of a few million crowns.

Category #3 - Guild Hall

it's no secret that most of the time I sit in my guildhall alone. However, at one point I was the shiniest and most radiant wolver around. This was my first costume set I felt was ~complete~, and chose it to be the guild leader costume I would wear to meetings and such.

Category #7 - FSC

I deliberately chose this location for the "FSC" shot to make my personal color blend in with the background since the regular FSC is so boring with flames and junk all over the place. By now you've gotten to see that I like wolvers and wings, so this is no exception. To me FSC and Almirian Armor go hand in hand, thus it was necessary to bring it and give it my own style.

Clearifying

I've been busy after the ceremony, so the results should be up in the next few days! I'm sorry for the delay!

Sewyy wasn't disqualified, I never said so. I talked to him about the 2 entries problem long before deadline was up and he hadn't noticed "1 entry only" so he personally told me which costume we'd judge. He edited it to his comment too, that he chose the white kat set. His other entry didn't get judged, it was all ignored as it was supposed to be. If you enter 2 entires and never take other one off or tell us which one to judge, we'll just judge the 1st one and ignore the 2nd one, so it doesn't give you any advantage.

I don't say here who are disqualified. I in-game mail them personally about the problems that they have in their screenshots and it's their own choice to fix it or not. In 2nd case it leads to disqualification. In this contest few were disqualified, many don't bother fixing if they dont' do somethign right.

Judges’ Comments: This costume was featured in one previous contest too but this version is updated with new Freeze Vial Bandolier and Prismatic Flower. I would say that this version has an even more of a christmas feel. Very well done!

Judges’ Comments: "Master, where are we?" is what Doge's sera is asking in a first picture. This one evokes a feeling of an interstellar traveler arriving in a strange and cold new world. Great job!
