I've been on SK for about two weeks now and am interested in starting PvP. I've observed a couple of games so I have a general understanding of the scene, but I'd like some advice on equipment and whatnot.

Preferred playstyle:
Mostly handguns.
Fast, easy to shoot bullets.
Recon module.

Questions:
1: What element is the best choice of defense/offense?
2: What status effect should I defend against/use?
3: What trinkets would be most optimal?
4: What are some general strategies for a Recon?
5: What is the current metagame?

If I could get a brief explanation along with each answer, that'd be great.
Thanks~

1. Pierce and elemental are generally better offensively since most people wear Black Kat nowadays. Defense is generally cow poop in Lockdown. Pick armor for their bonuses and status resistance. If you need bulk, use health pendants.
2. Shock, Freeze, Stun, Fire, in that order. The rest don't matter as much. Use whatever status you want. Fewer people resist obscure statuses, but they are obscure because they aren't helpful.
3. Health Trinkets are best in general. If you like to go guardian or recon, you can consider using damage or weapon speed boosters instead.
4. Trick your opponent into thinking you're somewhere else, then counter strike. Ration your cloak. No need to use it unless you are threatened.
5. Rapidfire Spam. Some people combo spam, some people shield cancel spam. Some people switch between spamming bullets and spamming swords. At the end of the day, it's still spam because most of the hits miss. The idea is SK physics/latency is so messed up, you have to attack in somebody's general area and hope it lands. The more attacks you make, the higher the chance of success.

Tips from a Magnus/Tundrus

Tips from a Magnus/Tundrus gunner:

1: Offense: Use piercing guns. Riftlocker is highly recommended (for conservative uses and to shorten farming time, you can use the 4* variant of Riftlocker). Mega Magnus and Callahan are very potent if used proficiently. Defense: don't worry about it. If you have 5* gear, don't bother leveling it to level 10. Do not mix two types of defenses as they will not contribute much that way.

2: Freeze is the most deadly in my opinion. Once frozen, the opposing team can attack from behind, giving them a greater advantage of your defeat. Followed by Freeze is Stun, which will really slow you down and heavily disrupt your chances of escape, and most importantly, your attacks. Third most deadly is Shock, as it briefly paralyzes you at semi-irregular intervals while inducing very minor damage.

3: Heart pendants. I would recommend Tri-Heart, Tetra-Heart, or Penta-Heart Pendants. If you have a True Love Locket, sell it for profit and use that profit to craft a Penta-Heart Pendant. All the other Trinkets have essentially been thrown down by the Heart Pendants. The Attack / Damage / Charge time trinkets are easily overcome by having the proper gear (and for maximum results, Unique Variants). Heart Pendants are a must, no matter what.

4: I cloak to hide from enemies - I cloak the moment I step out of the Locker Room. I sneak up at an enemy from a close distance, and at an easy angle to fire my handguns. Once you reveal your position, you have three choices: 1) rapidfire the enemy as quickly as you can through weapon switching and shield canceling; 2) hide back through the use of your cloak; 3) charge one of your handguns and aim at the opposition to the best of your abilities. For point #1, rapidfire requires practice of perfecting weapon switching and subsequent shield canceling. Shield canceling is the process of shortening the handgun animation to dramatically speed up the process of weapon switching. If shield canceling did not exist, weapon switching would have been done at extremely slower intervals. To shield cancel, shoot with your handgun once, then right after shooting, use your shield. The trick is to tap the shield button, not hold it. In other words, shoot -> tap shield button. To weapon switch very quickly, shoot -> weapon switch button -> tap shield button -> repeat. It takes a lot of practice. For point #2, trick your opposition by telling them you're going in one direction, while in reality you are going in a different, unpredictable direction. Run at one direction uncloaked (in front of the enemy), and then cloak. After cloaking, immediately change your direction to find a safer area. After finding a safe area, it is preferred to eliminate the enemy you tricked. Repeat the process. For a riskier move, you can "dance" with the enemy by going around their back, making the enemy wonder where you are. Only do that if you are a professional at Recon imitating, as I'd call it. For point #3, try to predict where the enemy will be, so that your charge attack can deal the most of its potential damage. This is a difficult process and requires a lot of practice. However, it is much easier to successfully charge attack an ememy if they are motionlessly capturing a node.

5: Most players use the Striker superpower for its swift and impactful movement. Most players care about scoring the highest damage as possible, to prove that they are "better" than the average player. I would like to warn you that trying to score the highest damage can be very stressful - please relax during your play time! Capturing nodes should be everyone's main priority, though achieving a large damage value can be a valuable moment to yourself and your friends.

Lockdown is an addicting PvP game. It's based around weapon experimentation, so as a gunner, using a wide variety of handguns will be a thrill. Also, expect to be knocked out A LOT. See you in Lockdown! - Utrex =P

1. Pure gunners should not focus on defense, pick gear according to the best weapon boosts/msi. Go with elemental guns.
2. If you have to choose one, pick shock on both questions because it hurts the most.
3. 2x Penta heart trinkets or 1 gun damage bonus because gear provide all the bonuses you need.
4. Switch shoot drivers til your mouse breaks or same but with blaster line.
5. Current meta would be bkc + any gunner armor + ff/btb + blaster line (+ driver + antigua line).

Ask if im not being clear on anything.
