Just a friendly word of advice, that i'm sure 99.99% of players would agree with.

NO MORE EXCLUSIONS!!!

Don't make updates that include exclusions to current players. Its bad form. You are basically p*ssing on the people who already support you in hopes of luring new players to the table. Its quite unfair.

EX 1) Steam hat and other benefits before deciding to make accounts integrated.

EX 2) Gift pack!!!! WTH? I bought myself a starter pack. I bought my brother a starter pack (as a gift, on his account wiht my CC). And now you offer a gift pack that is a better deal (4 starter packs for the price of 3), but i can't get it, b/c i chose to support you weeks ago and have already purchased a starter pack. So not only am do i feel "jobbed" b/c you have went and made a new deal thats considerably better than the one i've already supported you with, but you exclude me from the new deal BECAUSE I ALREADY SUPPORTED YOU. Its quite the slap in the face, when a thank you would have be more deserved.

why exclude us? Why not make sure everyone has the right to get the new hat? Why not allow me to buy one more starter pack (consummating the make up of the gift pack) and give them both out. When you make new content that die-hard fans of the game can't partake in, we feel incredibly alienated.

Hopefully their customer

Hopefully their customer support will offer some type of compensation / exception to cases brought up for this. I know several game companies who have helped players with these types of problems.

@ doman

its not necessarily about any 1 item, or instance. Its the point of the matter in general. That people who already support the game should not be excluded in upcoming specials and promotions.

While I agree devs should try

While I agree devs should try not to piss off players/supporters, I don't think everything players are excluded from is bad.

e.g. in another MMO I played, there was a cosmetic item people were very happy about, they bought it up, and thought it looked great. Near the end of the promotion, the price was lowered by 25%, and the outrage began. There were people on both sides of this. Supporters who cried foul, "why should people get a discount when I supported the game first!!" and others who argued that the early supporters got the item earlier, and that was worth it. The sale excluded early suppporters from the discount. Or did it?

These cries of foul play tend to be rooted in self-entitlement. As if the devs owe each and every player their own brand of justice. As I said, devs should try not to piss off any players, but at the same time, something like today's promo, which they may not have thought through, has been rectified by their announcement that next week will allow account linking/migration. I don't find the gift pack to be one of the things to complain about either. Granted you don't get the discount, but you bought the starter pack because it was the best deal, not just to support OOO. Don't make this out to be more noble than it is. You wanted the most out of your money spent, and you got it... until another promo came along and it was better. What's your beef again? That you took part in a promo that was later improved upon? This isn't a retail outlet. There's no price match guarantee.

To my knowledge, this is the

To my knowledge, this is the only instance or item that it's occurred, and it's a new game. It seems like an oversight, if anything, not a "slap in the face;" perhaps someone thought that one shouldn't be able to get multiple starter packs for themselves and didn't think of a better solution at the time.

To be honest, I agree with both of your points - this could have been handled better initially. However, I take issue with the tone of your reaction. A better use of your time might have been calmly (that's the key word, there: calmly) contacting customer support and inquiring about the new deal - that is, if you would be able to buy the rest of the starter pack gifts as if you'd bought the party pack. Instead, you succumbed to a sense of entitlement and basically threw what amounts to a hissy fit on the forums, which isn't likely to garner any sympathy from - well, anyone, I'd imagine.

Take a step back, reconsider your options, and consider if you should go calmly talk to customer/billing support instead. Perhaps they'll even realize their error and recompensate players who wish to buy the party pack. It isn't an uncommon occurrence, and it's a wonder just how far a soft-spoken inquiry can go.
