And if you mean you have enough to cash them in and the vendors are gone now, don't worry. They come back every year and you have unlimited inventory space.

OP might be referring to the admin post (based on timing and wording/limited info): through January 3rd. Through. The event was terminated before Jan 3rd was finished, or "through."
Some people like to stock up on tokens and cash them in all at once for a grand unboxing (while it is of course better to buy as soon as you have enough, there is nothing wrong with this if you trust in staff posts). Cutting off this much time in relation to an official admin post is simply wrong. Like it's not even close, no matter your Time Zone.

Other events let Bulky+Maskwell remain for a while so players can exchange a few crowns to top off their tokens and cash them in. Something tells me Impostoclaus needs another little helper for this purpose.

I got a laptop for xmas.
I saw "Through January 3rd" and thought ah, it ends as soon as the fourth begins. Then I lost my 3000 tokens and got nothing.
It's the "Play more" part that I'm having trouble with- I'm not very efficient at the event (I spend a good half of my already very limited time helping random people) and am fine with farming the rooms for nothing.. but having it yanked out from under me still made me rather frustrated yesterday, especially when I saw people getting like 15ish of the 3.5K token box using their alts. I just have to remind myself that someday they will all die and then I feel better.
Play more during Winterfest ---> Get a reward ---> Sell your item
It's fine as it is. If you want a reward, play more often to get more tokens.
