Personally I just want a Lovely Gremlin set
p̶l̶s̶ ̶o̶o̶o̶ ̶i̶t̶'̶l̶l̶ ̶l̶o̶o̶k̶ ̶s̶o̶ ̶g̶o̶o̶d̶ ̶
So. what are you guys looking forward to/hoping for this year?
I'm not really looking forward to anything, which isn't to say that I'm content or that there's nothing I would look forward to.
SEGA Networks just don't seem to be making the updates, content, or games that I'd be interested in.
Nothing, i dont have expectation for this game anymore since 2014.
More background on the Crimson Order and its members
The Core's integration into the Arcade
Pirate-themed promo box
Water-themed levels
Swarm-themed boss
Snarbolax-sized Skolvers and Vog Cubs
Slipper accessories returning in some fashion
Gobblesniped Stranger Hats
Tortodrones, Ironwood Sentinels, Slooms, and the Jelly Green Giant's re-integration into the Arcade.
A rematch with an amped-up Vanaduke that leads to the character regaining his sanity and forming an alliance between the ghostly legions of Almire and the Spiral Order
^tbh i just want a happy ending for the big guy. also for arkus and the alpha squad if at all possible
A rematch with Herex, that gives the gremlin greater powers than those of a mere Stalker
Integration of mounts into the game
Blue tortodrone gear. Preferably cobalt-blue
Apocrean environments outside of the event--preferably levels
Expansion on the spectral railroad in Moorcroft--preferably also levels
Revelation of secret #10
Opening of the gates at the southmost region of the Town Square, to give players a chance to explore Cradle's surface
Bomb redux, to where they're a bit more relevant
A slight nerf for T3 Rocket Puppies. Please.
Expansion on Undercorp and its HQ
Continued usage of the Vortex and Super Blast blocks.
Re-design of the arcade rooms containing boxes to make them more decorative
A wider variety of Arcade rooms--possibly even a community creator for room segments.
Blue variant of the TNL costumes (storm, rage, frenzy)
More investment on SEGA's part--there is a LOT of money to be made and a ton of content that could be created with and for the Spiral Knights franchise if they would actually collaborate with Three Rings.
Apocrean-themed shield
Lastly and most importantly, my hopes for 2016 SK are that the community, dev team, and admins are doing well in health and in spirit, and that this will be a less pessimistic year than the last.
I'm looking forward to:
Fun times with guildies and friends! ^.^
(Why am I the only one looking forward to this thus far?)
I'm hoping for:
Tailcoat rear accessories.
(Me sea legs be rather breezy without them "dusters".)
More water in the Clockworks.
(The lack of water on Cradle is rather unnerving to the forever thirsty.)
SAND in the Clockworks.
(Why are there beach costumes when there are no beaches?)
So I couldn't help but notice that phone games weren't something that was mentioned in the massive list of things desired by Umbra-Lunatis. Not even a Rise of Knights mention. It's kind of like looking forward to fun in the sun mid January.
That's not to say I wouldn't like a mobile game. However, I'm almost certain that Rise was a failed marketing ploy by sega, and not Three Rings, as sega's the one who wants to go full-on mobile gaming.
I want any future mobile spinoff for Spiral Knights to be entirely Three Rings' decision, and not a sega cashgrab.
"A rematch with Herex, that gives the gremlin greater powers than those of a mere Stalker"

yes pls.
I'm pretty excited for OOO's potential usage of that particular skybox. Would probably require a very oddly coded flooring though.
You make a distinction between Three Rings and SEGA Networks that doesn't appear to exist.
Three Rings' dev team is comprised of people that work for Three Rings. Unless they come out and say that it's been incorporated into SEGA entirely, I'm not gonna call it such.
My main point was that, assuming OOO is a separate body, I want any future mobile games to be designed by them, on their terms. Otherwise it's unfair.
"I'm pretty excited for OOO's potential usage of that particular skybox. Would probably require a very oddly coded flooring though."
oh my which one
the only one that i really want is that one that may make loz fans mad
You haven't checked the company linkedin or employee twitter accounts then. The OOO employees seem to report under Sega Networks now, as OOO got merged into it. OOO appears to only be in name, and I doubt anyone from the company is going to openly say it on forums here, as it'd be bad pr. As long as they don't admit it themselves, people will keep denying it, even if easy google searches show you what actually happened. I actually almost care enough to submit a bug report saying the copyright should be changed to say Sega Networks instead of OOO.
GMs are free to correct me if I'm wrong though by responding to this comment, which I know they'll see.

More of the "walking across chains" thing seen in Shadowplay. pls
More information on what happens to the Artifact after the events of Shadowplay
@tenderfoot, The Consumed skybox. pretty much the go-to for a lot of spiralspy fanart i've seen
@petater, As long as the devs are listed under the Three Rings employee list on the wiki I'm calling them such. Besides, SEGA doesn't really seem to care much about SK in the first place, so I won't really count it as a part of SK unless they do something that'll actually help the franchise. i.e. not making the Three Rings devs create a phone game and then terminating it before it gets out of beta.
My understanding is three rings is just in name, so they can keep stuff saying three rings on a technicality. They keep it that way so people like you don't worry that the entire management structure was rebuilt under sega networks. Sega Network's own linkedin says three rings is a studio location for the company, even google maps places the name sega networks over where the old ooo office was.
https://www.linkedin.com/company/sega-networks-inc-
I'll include the description paragraph here, since some of you are too lazy to google:
SEGA Networks Inc. and their on-site studio, Three Rings Design, are divisions of the SEGA Corporation, known for iconic franchises like Sonic the Hedgehog, Crazy Taxi and Super Monkey Ball. Every day we imagine new ways to bring our beloved franchises to life on smart phones and tablets.
Since releasing Super Monkey Ball as the first No.1 game for the App Store in 2008, SEGA has been at the forefront of mobile gaming with over 85 games. SEGA Networks Inc. publishes games featuring iconic SEGA IP as well as original content. Titles include mobile hits Sonic Dash and Crazy Taxi: City Rush and MMOs Puzzle Pirates and Spiral Knights.
It's now 2 hours and still no GM correcting me though, and a new promo announcement got posted after this by a gm.
GMs aren't necessarily required to answer forum questions. That last comment seems like more of an entitled-sounding challenge than anything else.
Three Rings is still the offbranch of sega networks, so even though it probably is an incorporation, there's nothing wrong I can see with calling them Three Rings staff.
And my statement about SEGA still stands: I don't think SEGA networks sees OOO as anything but a cash-grabbing machine; if they did care they'd step in and help instead of terminating an app that looked like considerable work had been put into it.
It's their job to manage the community, and hence PR. They have zero reason to not respond to negative disinformation about the company, unless of course it's true. It's people who will defend the lack of responses by GM which is why they won't respond, since it's most likely that more people will view the game negatively if it's publicly admitted by the company about the management.
It may be their job to regulate the community, but there are many, many people who ask for a GM to respond to their posts and don't get a reply back. That's why, if you actually want a GM response you email them instead of challenging them on the forums.
Nice tangent, but I'm very sure they already read this thread. This has been going on for months about inquiries on them now working directly sega networks and none have been responded to. Of course you can conveniently ignore all legal papers and linkedin descriptions by the company itself. The fact this hasn't been put down despite the employees reading these rumors, with linkedin post evidence, over and over should be enough.
If you're going to ignore all that and continue to support sk BECAUSE you think OOO is still independent, then of course that would be the obvious reason why this hasn't been responded to.
KOd knights given Exed or Spiral eyes that turn back to their personal eyes once they revive or exit the level
You have no idea how much I want to be able to be able to set various eyes depending on the situation. I can see it being a high-graphics only thing if need be, but cosmetic-wise it'll get people buying more eye shapes to put onto different scenarios (ie, you choose when they show up, and by default all eyes are set to whatever you choose at creation with "blink" being "closed eyes")
For example, I might want "normal eyes" by default, "squinty eyes" for blink, "vacant eyes" for being downed, "dot eyes" for taking damage, etc.
I would think there could be options for the following:
- default
- blink
- downed
- damage received
- boss defeated (eyes remain this way until end of the mission, changing after elevator
- sitting/laying down
- busy (counting animation)
- inflicted (under a status effect)
- boosted (under a buff of any sort)
- friendly (when doing a /wave animation or various other commands, such as /joy, /flirt, /laugh)
- unfriendly (when doing various commands, such as /rude, /fail)
- feeling down (when doing various commands, such as /sad, /cry)
... and I'm gonna stop myself before I go much further, but in general having more dynamic eyes would be a wonderful addition, despite us not seeing our eyes too often. My thoughts are that the "default" eye type would be everything at first, and outside of "blink", everything would be labeled "same as default". When you choose to change your default eyes, all others change along with it. If you change just, say, the "downed" one, then it would no longer be labeled as "same as default", and thus not be overwritten by changing the default eyes.
I would say that a change like this would prompt a larger need for more eye shapes. Some examples of eye shapes I can imagine would be "shy" (similar to sad eyes in appearance), "derp" (similar to dot or vacant eyes, but further from the center), "intrigued" (pretty much just huge eyes), "embarrassed" (similar to cheeky eyes), "disappointed" (upside-down happy eyes), "flattered" (similar to happy, potentially added "prismatic blush". If that goes through that opens up a lot of opportunities for more eye shapes), and probably more but I'm stopping myself again because this ain't the suggestions forum and I don't need to write a wall of text over here.
"They have zero reason to not respond to negative disinformation about the company"
They also have zero reason to respond to negative disinformation when it's coming from a single person on a forum of many, especially when said information does not negatively affect the players' experience within the game.
They posted the new promo because it was scheduled. Note that, despite the timing, if you change the node numbers on the announcement you'll find threads from the 23rd of December, implying that the promo post was written up two weeks ago and just recently listed on the announcements.
Also note that within a day of complaints about Winterfest ending prematurely we got news that Winterfest was returning for another week to make up for it. Winterfest is a gameplay thing, and since there were negative gameplay experiences, the GMs responded and were able to get the event extended. Whether or not Three Rings is just a name won't take your Winterfest tokens away, so there's no real need to comment on that.
It does affect how others decide whether or not they are going to spend on the game. Trouble in management would probably cause consumers to value supporting said company less.
I like the scenario eyes. The defaults could be your regular eye modifiers, though, as tbh i'm not fond of the actual "default" eyes.
Star for stunned, Exed for KO, closed for blink, Snowflake for Frozen...endless possibilities
If they're irrelevant they why is it so critical the rumors surrounding OOO employees working for Sega Networks now are not being responded to on an official level? I'm looking towards these rumors being put to rest this year, that's what I'm looking forward to.
"It does affect how others decide whether or not they are going to spend on the game."
Whether or not people are spending money on the game does not affect the player negatively gameplay-wise. You can argue energy market, but that's one path to take when there are several. The only thing a lack of money will do is shut down the game, but as long as loyal players are spending money, newer players spend a few bucks, or whales are throwing everything at promos, that won't be happening soon.
And back to the eye scenario stuff, yeah, the possibilities really are endless. The things I want most covered is default, blink, downed, sit/sleep/laying down, and damage taken. Others are just icing on the cake!
I noticed eury changed her twitter to say sega networks (although ooo is left in it too): https://twitter.com/holloboles
holy moley eury looks almost identical to my mother in that profile picture. Red glasses, droopy sunhat and all. Gonna have to call her and make sure she isn't living some secret double life in the midwest without me.
But yeah, Three Rings is a part of SEGA Networks. That doesn't change any of my thoughts whatsoever. In my mind it's similar to a publisher buying up game studios and then making games under the studio's name still. Three Rings is still their own "team", but is also part of a larger company.
The thing I'm getting at is upper management seems to have been replaced, and it's no longer independent. The former founders of OOO are no longer (CEO of OOO according to records isn't CEO anymore). Yes, there is still a team of OOO developers. That's where paintool's thread on no sk developers was wrong. I'd argue there's more money and manpower than ever, especially since Sega Networks bought out like 2 other studios. The problem I see is that since Haruki Satomi (according to some records google-able) is both the CEO of Sega Networks and a chairman of Sega at the same time, I don't see progress on the game moving forward. I see hints of the former SK team being part-time'd away from working on SK onto other SEGA games.
TL;DR I'm afraid Sega "pulled an EA" and bought out the studio for talent and not the IP (at least if the IP didn't produce enough revenue).
I'd REALLY love a GM to clear this all up to shut me up, even if it's word for word what I say.
Developers Giving this game the attention it deserves and reading and listening to the community for once in the last couple years, they have a great deal of ROI to be made from this game. I know people who spent $45,000-$60,000-$75,000 on this game, and while not every player will spend that much on average, it's obvious to me this game has potential. since 2013, I have not seen another preview server access for upcoming content, that really catered us, and it was nice to talk to the developers and ask them questions and get to know them more, and now they leave us in the silence never trying to excite us anymore, it's like losing a best friend, or having one suddenly stop talking to you after interacting and helping you along the way. I don't know why nick left. last time i ever saw him was in the first ever prize box dark festival in 2012, and after that no more, and he was even giving away a few things to players as a trick or treat, I haven't needed any assistance from the GM's but I'm seeing more violators and no Bans happening. I'm not mad at the Spiral knights team, i just wish they would at least update us on whats going on in the studio, and this doesn't have to be pre released sensitive content for the game, just tell us how the teams doing or give us updates that don't have to do with prize boxes and small patches, i even remember receiving a spiral mail a while back telling me we reached over 1 million active players, what im seeing in this thread are amazing and fair ideas, this remainder of the playerbase is smart and dedicated to this game, they wouldn't be here if they didn't care, I had goosebumps from that southern haven opening idea and exploring cradle, and that alone... would give us so many reasons to play this game, they would make endless new regions for us to explore, I wish i could the waterfalls you see when you make a new alt on the crash site, cradle is and can be a beautiful planet, we don't have to just be in haven, expanding this game and even giving side quests and missions alone is enough for me personally, it doesn't have to be story progression, and of course we all know they still have content to release, its there but coming slowly, ive seen things with my own eyes peeking at the preview server client files.
Perhaps they have a small dev team or are busy on something else, whatever it could be, i wish they would come back and hear our questions or tell us how they're doing. We will just have to wait and see what fate holds for the future of cradle and everything it stands for.
"If they're irrelevant"
They're irrelevant because I wanted to make a nice thread about what people were looking forward to then suddenly you had to clog it up with "SEGA OWNS OOO THEY DON'T EXIST"
Literally everybody knows that and it's just easier to type OOO than Sega Networks® every single time
When I started it I was just being honest. In other games, I have something to look forward to because new content comes out regularly.
TF2? Well they just made a balance patch and they have new weapons/maps fairly often.
Binding of Isaac? New expansion, items, levels, etc.
XCOM? XCOM 2 is coming up. It took them a while but it's a different type of game altogether.
Puzzle and Dragons? New content weekly and if not then events, since it's a tiny game.
Spiral Knights? Well the best explanation is that they're off making phone games. Am I interested in their phone games? Absolutely not, unless it connects with Spiral Knights in which case I'll use it forever and possibly pay some into it or unless it expands upon Spiral Knight's story in which case I'll give it a go and then drop it, zero dollars paid.
If they want to announce something, or hint at something, or produce something then I'd love to look forward to it, but until then it's rather hard to look forward to nothing. They've done a lot of things right- the new xmas danger rooms were excellent- so don't get me wrong. I'm just trying to be realistic.
I'm looking forward to finding some dang Elite Orbs of Alchemy, which have either been playing a one-sided game of hide-and-seek with me, or have become invisible.
elite orbs are always difficult. I recommend finding two then buying the third from auction.
Oh, and don't forget to play on elite for the best chances of finding one. Built to Destroy and Sovereign Slime are go-to elite orb farms, but deep tier 2 and the starting of tier 3 arcade work as well.
Any kind of content/gameplay/balance update.
