Is this game ever going to get a real update or can we consider it dead? It had a lot of potential but the lack of updates resulted in a heavy decline in players - who likely will not return.
Nick Popovich left Three Rings and his game Slime Rancher is doing REALLY well; makes me wonder what wonderful things he could have continued with this game.
A Real Update
comment about how these threads have existed since spiral knights was in beta, and 5 years later spiral knights is still alive. remark about cycling players. something about making fun for yourself instead of expecting the game to be fresh and new after playing it for several years.
You guys are delusional. You can't see that the game is dead. A few hundred users and no real updates in over a YEAR?
Yeah, sounds like the game is in its prime alright.
Instead of parroting "the game is dead," which I understand is tempting since all the cool kids are doing it, perhaps you should occupy your time with something else you find enjoyable. Bake a pie. Read a book. Build a birdhouse for orphaned snipes.
The game is not "dead" until the servers shut down. It may be at a state of stagnation, but it is not "dead." These threads do little more than dampen morale for the staff.
The game is definitely not dead. There is still players and active trade market on there. Of course the developers put alot less effort in this, but there is still life for events
D-d-d-d-d-d-dead..?
NO! I DIDN'T WHALE IN VAIN! IT MEANT SOMETHING AND AND AND AND IT'S STILL VALUABLE!! MY MERCHANDISONING ASSETS ARE STILL GOOD!!! THERE COULD BE AN UPDATE ANY DAY NOW!!!!
Seriously though, the game is dead unless they have plans for it that they aren't telling us. Like big plans. Big plans that aren't prize boxes and phone games. Big plans that they're not advertising on their LinkedIn pages or their website or bringing up at all. Big plans that require talking to players, running test servers, and actively updating.
If what we've been getting is what you want to call alive then go right ahead, but we both know it isn't changing anything.
It's funny watching people say SK dead because the servers haven't been shut down yet. Game death is when the company deems it's no longer worth the effort to develop content for a game, even if it means mass quitting. The only plan I can foresee is to throw recolored/re-released promos at the remaining people with gambling addictions before even they quit. Seeing how the market barely moves I'm inclined to say most of the people with gambling addictions supporting the market already quit.
What Grudging-Claw said pretty much echoes my thoughts on this game. To me, it's in a state of stagnation, much like how a pool of water will stop circulating, but the ecosystem inside won't die instantly when that happens.
We just have to wait for all the oxygen (read: the remaining playerbase) to disappear before the ecosystem dies out for good (read: server shutdown).
Posting in another is SK dying thread.
