I'll be more specific, since the answer is always going to be "yes" to this.
Realistic kind of fixed
"The slot machines were fixed such that the highest payout only occurred when the machine earned at least twice what it would have to give out in total; there were no winners."
Result of said fixing: I will personally buy 20 dollars worth of prize boxes this event, because the game's servers need funding and I want to resemble a monkey.
Correct kind of fixed
"The black kat event was fixed, such that it didn't feel like never ending tedium; no one likes being 'Alone in the Dark' for two weeks and Spiral Knights is beyond such things."
Result of said fixing: I will personally buy 50 dollars worth of prize boxes this event, because the game did the right thing and actually deserves the money.
My 30 dollars probably won't convince anyone that it's worth fixing, but I have a hard time believing that in the long run such a strategy would pan out worse than the current strategy of slowly letting the game die, as if phone games are going to be an easier fight to win. If there's some reason beyond "grinding = force players to pay" that the event isn't being changed that we should be aware of that someone along the lines of Atalanta would like to share, I'd love to hear it.
Now that I've put that out there, time to be optimistic and hunt some kats with my dearest friends!
Short answer: no.
