This is a short question, but after the Tortodrone event, do your ancient shells disappear from your inventory?

Right. I still have Ancient Shells from the last March of the Tortodrones.

All materials stay yeah, but it wouldn't have to be that way. Apocrea tokens stay but winterfest and dark harvest tokens don't. There is nothing that says that all materials will always stay. That being said, you will get to keep the ancient shells you have

I don't think I've ever seen a material expire. Some tokens expire, sure, but I've never seen materials go pop.

It mentions on the items themselves if and when they expire.
Short answer : No.
All Materials stay for ever in your inventory
