Well, even with the latest updates, if you face gun puppies/retrodes' beams/etc. in T2 or T3, elemental defense remains quite important !!!

Elementary Defense sounds
Elementary Defense sounds like something schoolteachers desperately need more of.
Or maybe a realy poor argument in court. "Objection! That's... objectionable!"

Elementary defense
Certainly less important than Junior High defense, and way easier then College defense, but it's never good to ignore the fundamentals.

In all seriousness, Gun Puppies and Mecha Knights are fairly common (in fact, arena stages are guaranteed to have several of both), so Elemental Defense is pretty helpful-- outside of the Jelly Palace, it's second-most prevalent damage type after Normal.
Piercing might be third-most-common (There are always either Slimes or Wolvers in danger rooms, and usually a few Wolvers in most Arenas). Shadow is least common, but... still common enough to worry about.

Not important because you need to listen to your elementary teachers therefore no elementary defense is needed at all.
It has always been dependent on which strata you visit most of.
If you're choosing gates/strata will a lot of Elementals then that's the best way to go. Same for everything else: A lot of Piercing? Piercing defense then.
Elemental defense only shines in Firestorm Citadel, as well as Shadow defense since the entire area is made up of these two types of attacks. Other than that they're just as important to have as anything else.
