I can explain the situation
The https security certificate expired before OOO could renew it, so all purchases are down
What it means for you: there is now a finite amount of energy, prices will skyrocket with no new supply
what it means for the game: the guy who had the job and renewed it in 2013 is probably not here any more, so the two theories are that it is a hiccup, or final evidence that sk is being left to die
disclaimer: I have no stance on either theory, both seem plausible

They renewed the cert (but not before they let it expire), it might be taking some time though for it to populate for all users.
I hope the GMs know the spiralknights.com domain name expires in September, and they should renew it beforehand, otherwise it'll be even worse than this. Domain name registrars like to charge a lot more when you let the domain name lapse, but not before exposing your users to malware & ad filled landing pages.
In other news, everyone on the latest Mac OS X is still unable to use steam funds to buy things in SK, as Steam Overlay for El Capitan has not been working for Spiral Knights. Steam Overlay works for every other game I've touched on OS X though... Been going on for a year, might I add.

I still expect something for the anniversary. Would be odd to have something special for several years then nothing this year.
