I enjoy playing games, and one of the biggest (and arguably best) game producers of our modern age is Nintendo. Recently, the "New" Nintendo 3DS and "New" 3DS XL have been released, and it has made me decide to get another system. By "another" system, I mean I'm going to try really REALLY hard not to lose it, or else it will end up like my old DSi...
...and 3DS XL
...and iPod
Anyway, that is not my question. I want to get a new system, and there are 5 to choose from. Here are the deciding factors:
-Cost
-Screen Size
-Future Releases
And the models:
-3DS
-3DS XL
-2DS
-NEW 3DS
-NEW 3DS XL
Actually, ignore the "New" 3DS, I live in America, where is is not available (but the "New" 3DS XL is available).
I will now talk about the first problem: cost. I do not have much money. I could certainly save up, but I am not very patient either. The 2DS is the cheapest of them all, and since I do not care about the 3D feature, the fact that it's in 2D is not a problem. Neither is the fact that it is not portable (it does not fold like the rest, it is just a big rectangle). After that, there is the 3DS, which costs a bit more, and then the 3DS XL and "New" 3DS XL, which cost a lot more.
Now for screen size. The 3DS and 2DS have the same screen sizes. Sadly, I am used to the MASSIVE screens of the XL, so it may be hard to adjust. The last thing I want to do is buy a system and then find out I can't see anything.
Finally, future releases. The "New" 3DS has one (maybe more) game(s) that is/are exclusive to it, meaning the old 3DS models cannot play it. While this is not a problem now, it is possible that normal 3DS games will stop being produced or developed. This would not be good if I decided to get the old models.
Which model should I get?
Honestly if your poor like me just get the 2DS. It still fits into most pockets (though its a bit of a squeeze on small pant sizes.) The screen size is easy to adjust to if your eyesight is ok (Pokemon is easy to see, but I tried Zelda and it occasionally took a second glance or two at some junctures.) as for the lack of content thing, I think if you REALLY want new games, you'd have to just wait for the new 3DS, though the game selection on the old one is far from the poor.
