Will anyone on the Wiki edit & update information about the game's current state, now that the game's no longer in Three Rings' hands? I might if no one else does, unless the GH devs say otherwise.
That said, who's gonna do it? Me, or someone?

Very well. I only read the news & had new thoughts about certain pages in the wiki about the game's state being changed, in terms of it's company responsible for its development.
That said, you're right. We'll wait to hear what they have to say.
My one thing concerning about that is, will they continue the previous plans from the previous "What's in Development" post?
i have been playing this game for 5years now.. so i know quite a LOT about what all happened. But something tells me that Bopp can do this much better than anyone else.
Well, we'll see who does it well, even if it's Bopp, or you, Starskystrike.
As a wiki editor with an unspeakable amount of time invested in contributions (I don't really hang out on the forums other than to follow admin threads and make the occasional fat suggestion post): concerning the fate of the entire wiki/game, that is a huge worry of mine and one of the reasons I've not been editing as much as I used to. That and having real life things like a job. But as you can see, I am still contributing, and you can always check Recent Changes for global (English wiki) efforts.
As far as "who does it well" (comment #4), I assume Bernston means edit a page such as the Spiral Knights wiki article. IMO, it would be best to wait for things to clear up. Even though we don't see Bopp edit much (and I don't know who Starskystrike would be on the wiki), it wouldn't be fair to ask players to edit it. Clearing up sensitive information like that at its base is best left to staff, who know what's going on - and only when they have time. I also think it would be best for staff to update the actual Spiral Knights article on big mommy Wikipedia, again, because they have more information about the game's/wiki's current and future state than we do.
Logos and other references (such as those found in website footers) will be updated/removed by staff in time, I'm sure. One of the major "related issues" I can think of is the phrasing of image tags, almost all of which mention copyright & OOO. There are quite a lot of things to be taken care of. I imagine these edits will be similar to the fixes I had to do regarding Aeria Games (here's just one page that was affected out of several). When the dust has settled, any help would be appreciated, I'm sure. I know I would appreciate it.
I suppose if people really want to help with this particular issue, we could start a list of things (such as those image tags) that mention OOO and SEGA. If our current wiki situation holds steady, we can definitely help staff clean up "the little things" after we get more information.
Well, I took a look at the Credits page, & it looks like it's been outdated for about almost 2 years now. One of the devs could update it to keep track, but, they were too busy with other things they had, even with SEGA holding them down for a while.
As Dracora-Speaking said, I haven't edited much recently. In fact, many players have edited more than I have: Dracora-Speaking, Sir-Onox, etc. Trying edited a lot in the old days, when I edited more. Flattery is nice, but credit should go where it's due.
Apologies for any negative tones. I don't like to word things in a way that sounds like begging for help and mentioning names was more an attempt at division of potential labor for what is surely to be a large project on the horizon, unless the wiki changes drastically in a way that prevents further contribution. The rest of my fwumpiness can be attributed to "sunk cost fallacy."
If Bernston maintains a list in their original post (or editors maintain a project to-do user subpage on the wiki, which IMO would be better because of linking, contribution, and tracking ease), we should probably at least divide it into two sections according to edit ability (only admins can edit the credits and Game Master pages, as well as many others). The list would thus be very useful for both parties (parties being "admins" & "the rest"), because it would allow everyone to keep track of things and prioritize. For example, I know that Administrator Clotho likes to work through clearly defined checklists when they have time.
To get this project into perspective (as I see it, we're wanting to "fix" any remnants of SEGA/OOO in relation to Grey Havens)... this search is a bit overwhelming, but it's a start. There are some major edits as well as several easy fixes just with those results. We'd also have to sift through "OOO" and "SEGA" searches in all namespaces with variations on capitalization of course. Changes would include name updates, obsolete tags, and simple reductions so changes in the future won't have to be made ("Three Rings Staff" could be shortened to "Staff" for example).
Considering this wiki to-do list as well as real life, I won't be able to contribute much to this project, even if it's months before we see staff make any baseline changes or post anything official we can use. Admin posts like this will continue to be useful. Also, it makes me giggle that the admin got comment slot #100.
*fix: "Grey" not "Gray." Very important!
yeah you might not know me. I would be editting the wiki for the first time if I ever get
a chance.
Ninja edit- I wanna try it though. I just wonder whether it is time consuming or not.
Depends on how much you want to edit a section in the game's Wiki page.
Whether a short section or a long section, how much time you spend on editing them differs.
Couldn't hurt to give it a try, though.
I inquired about the entire wiki, and here's some good "news":
Cronus - Today at 10:57am:
Greetings,
The move of the game and wiki has been completed and we do not plan on moving away from Mediawiki at this time. We still have a lot of backend work to do, but the wiki itself should be stable at this point.
So, we can still edit the wiki? I'm happy the move was done.
The real question is whether they plan to move away from that ancient version of Mediawiki currently used.
The real question is when the wiki won't be inaccessible so I can check the technical issues faq.
I did some editing for specifics myself (not just on a personal standpoint). As of right now I cannot access the wiki for some reason. The page just tells me that it had a problem loading. Will that be fixed soon?
Try to keep this thread on topic:
- Fixing references to Three Rings and Sega via edits, as appropriate.
- Determining if a given fix needs admin attention
- Maintaining a list of "to do" fixes (admin or otherwise)
- Tracking the state of the wiki in relation to SK's transit to Grey Havens and whether or not we can expect format and host changes in the future.
Regarding comments 14 & 15, there is a dedicated thread here, and I've linked to an admin response.
So now the wiki doesn't have any pictures.. But text. What.
@Blazecat-Percival: Again, keep this thread on topic. Post concerns about "the wiki/things in the wiki are down at the moment" in the dedicated thread linked to in comment #16.
We don't really know yet, how the change in ownership is going to affect the game. Supposedly Grey Havens has already taken possession, but the words "Three Rings" and "Sega" are still all over the place. Let them update the game, and then we'll figure out how to update the wiki accordingly. Does that seem reasonable?
