It opens for a few seconds and then closes right away. I don't know what to do.

Hi, I'm Helstar.
I have the same problem. I wanna play... please let me play... stop opening for a split second and closing... I was playing fine before I shut the game off and wanted to open it again later... :(
My specs are almost the same as the above guy. Except, I think, a different graphics card and resolution. Please help me, I need to sign on and do a trade and then go fight the Royal Jelly. :(

For me, after I uninstall the game in control panel, then delete all my game files in that crazy old directory it likes to install to, THEN reinstall it, I get one launch, if I exit from that, I can't get back in. Same problem as this fellow.
It flashes the launch screen, then immediately closes. I have fully updated ATI drivers and Java, though I've only updated them since after I began having this problem.
It started yesterday, I think as soon as the patch hit.
I've got four gigabytes of RAM, Windows 7 64 bit and an ATI Radeon 6850. Not a laptop, so it's no mobile stuff.
I did notice that after updating my video drivers, I had awful lag spikes until I disabled Vsync. Then it got all better.

With certain ATI cards,
With certain ATI cards, having the latest driver version might actually be the problem. Newer versions of the drivers for these cards (this list is not all inclusive, but it covers the cards we know about) broke OpenGL support and now they don't play nice with Spiral Knights. You may have to roll back to an earlier driver version.
As for users with Intel cards, especially the mobile express chipsets, your graphics card drivers also don't handle the game all that well. The Intel 900ish series does not have full 3D or OpenGL support, so the game may always be sluggish. This section of the Performance Issues FAQ is for you; please let me know if updating your drivers helps at all.

Fixed it on my computer. I alt-tab really quick, as soon as the game starts up, into my web browser. It seems, not having focus keeps it from crashing. How very odd.
