So I took several thousand years off duty, and I've only just gotten back on track.
Lets see now... I require both advanced and elite orbs of alchemy (3* and 4*) in order to upgrade my hood and shield. Do any of you know good places to farm for these orbs?

The fastest way to get orbs is to buy Energy with $$$
You could waste hours farming jelly king/roarmulus, or you could take $5, buy energy (1600), and have enough orbs.
Advanced Orbs: Elite difficulty Depths 9-12
Elite Orbs: Elite difficulty Depths 14-17

At the moment I'm collecting data about rarity drop frequencies (and I know lots of people have already done that, but I want to just to satisfy my own curiosity) in The Sovereign Slime. If you want elite orbs, I'd recommend Jelly King on elite. You'll also end up with a surplus of jelly gems and I think around 3,000 - 3,500 cr on elite, if you kill monsters (or you could just run through and grab the boxes for orbs, whatever you like).
I recommend looking through the link that Bopp conveniently linked for this. It seems (according to Lancer_Knightz's data) the Missions "Oilers in the Boilers" and "Rise or Fall" are the best options in terms of Advanced Orbs and "Sewer Stash" for Elite Orbs. I personally rush Sewer Stash a lot since 4* Orbs are so rare for me to find at times...

Axes of Evil (depth 14) is popular for elite orbs because you can open six boxes (four of them require shooting across a gap) at the very start of the mission. If nothing interesting drops, you can hit 'm' to restart the mission without wasting much time.
A lot of players like to cheese the game on I think it was aurora isles? Or running through levels. Those are by far the fastest ways but I've found more than enough from just playing the game in T2.
