How to fix this ***** game that it slowly destroyed itself.

So, its been more than 5 years i'd say that i havent heard about this game, i thought i would end up closing, but luckly they managed to escape from SEGA's claws.

Before i left the game, i deeply took a look on what problems SK had, and discussed it with my SK veteran friends.

What does Spiral knights need to restore all its glory? Its easy.

-REMOVE THE MISSIONS

Right now, missions in spiral knights are simply taxis, they bring you to a specific area and level, wihout any cost or effort. Now, i dont mean exactly remove the missions, but to change them in a way that they dont send you anymore to a level/area.

Remember that old forgotten place, the Arcade? Thats where missions are gonna be, we take a mission, we go to arcada, and we go through the levels until we reach the determined area and complete it! Thats it! DONT TOUCH ANYTHING ELSE.

-BRING BACK THE OLD ENERGY/CRAFTING/REVIVAL SYSTEMS

The old energy system was fine, while it was a pain in the ass to run out of energy, crystal energy was the alternative to keep going through the levels. People buyed energy to keep reviving to keep their vanaduke runs.

And with crafting, we needed energy to craft most of our weapons before, this way, players keep buying energy to make even more things. Because energy wasnt a barrier before, its just was just a limiter.

And with revival, the same, being able to revive with energy instead of absurd revive "tokens".

Though keeping the elevators free would be nice.

REVAMP ENEMIES'S DIFFICULTY

I remember before the missions came, enemies used to aim their attacks to you. Now they dont anymore, why?

We have now mechanics to dodge and pass through (shield bash) enemies. Why not make them again more difficult?

Of course that could be only on the last tier.

REMOVE PVP'S LEADERBOARDS.

Why this? Well, before i left spiral knights, on my experience, guilds in spiral knights were in a constant war for being the "best" in pvp, AT ANY COST.

I saw players being bribed to abandon their guilds and join another, or entire clans being totally corrupted. All this beause of the stupid competitivity.

If we remove them, guilds wont know anymore who is the best, as guilds its primarly purpose are to socialize, not fighting. This was one of the things that ruined Spiral knights for me.

Well, these are my ideas for restoring this game's old glory back to Spiral Knights, its good to hear news about the game's future.

The grief is legitimate, but you're definitely supplying the wrong solutions. That being said, it does need to change.

It was the Arcade what made the game unique, since EVERYTHING changed between hours, with the missions, the Arcade is ignored completely.

If we simply moved the missions to the arcade, it would solve the "taxi" problem.

You select a mission, now its you active mission, you go to the arcade, and you reach the determined zone/level. Complete the mission, thats it.

With the old crafting systems, we get more energy sinks, because the whales (players who give a spend the most money on the game) are right now overboarding with crystal energy.

And with pvp, its a community problem, some guilds are decided to destroy others just for competition. THIS must not be allowed.

Ehh

Naw, current system is better.

Missions are great but their pacing is off. Make missions unlock as you complete non-rank missions after completing the current mission set.

Energy systems are much better now. Everything costs either the exact same or less. I see zero issues with it other than the items being separated from each other.
If you introduce energy systems again, you bring back mist, and most early players left the game because of mist energy.

Enemy difficulty increase would be nice, but preferably only on the elite difficulty.

PvP hiding leaderboards wouldn't do much. GvG is not all that alive now-a-days, and if you can be bribed to leave your guild then you had dedication problems in the first place.
Besides, the leaderboards only show activity, not performance. I could play one game and do really well but the leaderboards would say I have a lower score than someone who was carried for two games by a great team because they had +200 to my +100.

It was exactly the way the game it was before, and it worked, why not go back?

Right now the game has a total pay2win model.

yeah you really dont know what you're saying

The old model was hostile to newer players, so they left, it wasn't working fine which is why it was changed

"Pay to win now", seriously? Literally everything can be gotten for free, the old system forced people to pay to even play the game past 10 depths a day without eating into earnings, and crafting took direct energy which you had to buy (or buy off players who spent money) instead of orbs which you have the option to get for free

Energy used to cost around 6k crows on that time. When i left, i remember the price used to be around 15k.

The idea of having a world that CHANGED FOR HOURS it was what made the game unique. At least that should be reverted.

guess why

Energy is set by players, things are still free to get without going through the supply depot in the new system too, so a total reversal back to a broken system will still make it more pay to play with energy being required, no matter how the cost changes

i uh, what

Real life purchases were required in order to progress before the change. Now, we can complete the game without spending a single cent. Energy never cost 6k before, players simply valued it as that much (and therefore, market price was that number). With less of a demand for energy from every player ever, now we have higher energy prices.

If you're not happy about the energy prices right now then simply don't buy energy from the market. Either buy it from Grey Havens directly, off another player, or just play the game because the important things you use energy for don't require energy anymore.

eh

Danger rooms are optional. Powering up mecha knights, powering up auto turrets, opening energy gates with boxes behind them, and bribing king krogmo are also optional.

Leveling up your gear isn't optional.

Energy was used as a resource for many things before, and at the same time as some sort of "coin".

When people buyed energy for things, and they needed crows, they sold the spare energy they had.

Also, i played this game since it came out of beta.

So yeah, limiting players into crafting new equipment by that resource that everyone needs, and even blocking players from leveling their weapons isnt pay2win.

No please, the old systems were better, energy was flowing everywhere and it wasnt so overpriced. All this shit happened because a bunch of scum wanted to keep the game for themselves (YES this was true, a group of guys wanted to increase the price of energy, and they did)

I don't care if you've played this game since before it's conception, when you're wrong, you're wrong.

I completely agree with Fangel.
S/he sums it up quick and easy.
"Real life purchases were required in order to progress before the change."

Did you honestly bring up p2w, buddy?
Pay 2 Win ? The system before was completely P2W. It was pretty much pay 2 play when you ran out of mist.

Energy prices are high because no one buys energy with real life money anymore. Energy doesnt even come with reskin boxes anymore. That's right, not the other eay around.

Shortage = price increase. Economics one o' kindergarten. Energy is obsolete now anyway. You can get everything from playing the bloody game It's been the least p2w it's ever been. If you can't see that, you are blind.

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

Well missions shouldn't die.

Arcade just needs some necromancy and it will be as good as new...something that makes it unique again. Like...making pets eat something other than minerals and making minerals control the arcade again!

Or making minerals control the arcade again and making two more kinds of pets!

Or...whatever they were planning with the Arcade Redux. What where they planning, anyhow?

. . .

Energy was flowing because it was mandatory to flow. People bought energy so they could actually play the game. When you have to make a microtransaction to actually play the game whenever you want, that's not a good sign of a long lasting game.

Energy is now a premium currency and a shortcut method. Before, it was used for everything ever. Having the real life currency be helpful but not required is very healthy for the game - forcing purchases turns off a huge number of players.

Do. Not. Money. Grub.

As I commented on another thread. Mist energy gave OOO a nasty bad rep as money grubbers. Without rehashing my total rant I will state it plain.

Grey Havens. Do. Not. Money. Grub.

Period.

It is the single worst mistake you can make. It is very largely a reason this game is not as popular as it could be. As it SHOULD be. It permanently damaged peoples opinion of not only three rings, but of an otherwise awesome game.

If you want to make people pay- Do it by making them WANT to pay. OOO was learning this. They weren't there yet.

Bottom line- Fully agree with Fangel.
