So when a player wins an item from the auction house, they receive a mail specifying so. Why not have that mail also tell for how much the item was won for?

He means when you win an item it should say how much you won it for
You bid on it yourself, if you dont remember thats on you
this feature would be functionally useless as you can't do anything about the crowns spent once you won the item

Kinda pointless
You can always check the Auction House for this, one of the tabs shows you a list of items you're currently bidding on, any items you've won via bidding, or items you've been outbid on. Sure the items listed under ended auctions eventually disappear, but you have an ample amount of time to go and check it yourself.
Auction House messages always come with a calculation as to how much the item was sold for, plus a refunded listing fee, minus a sale fee. And of course, the final amount is what you recieve in the letter.
Think that covers it, unless I'm missing something
