Good evening fellow knights, I am Titan Flamuel, and I am here to present to you a concept that could potentially add a new spark to Spiral Knights. This is the concept of Knight Classes.
This concept came to me while I was looking over the Hall of Heroes. Echo, Remi, Zebulon and others all have a title for them like Striker, or Cobalt Knight. And while we can certainly attempt to try and emulate our favorite heroes, we'll ultimately fall short as we are not them. But, what if we were to have character classes, with unique buffs related to that class and leveling ourselves in that style of play?
Given my general affection towards being a tank, I'll use Guardian as the example class:
-The Guardian Class is focused on being a tank and absorbing attacks from enemies to keep your party alive. The first natural buff you have is Defense Boost 1, where you automatically have a Low increase against all damage types. As well, the class would benefit from "Slow" weapons, like Troika or Magnus, passively buffing their damage or even attack speed. Given that you should be absorbing attacks, you will also have the debuff "taunt", and enemies will be more likely to target you rather than your allies. Shields will be very important for you, as you can progressively reduce the cost for and increase the damage of Shield Bashing.
That's just a general idea, not at all a final concept. The whole idea is that you can choose early on, and easily switch between, character classes like Guardian, Specialist, and the three Defenders. These classes would have a separate leveling system from your equipment, and the missions you would be performing to level up your class would be tied with your progression in the main missions. This way, a Cobalt Knight gets stronger as they move from just defeating the Snarbolax, to taking on Lord Vanaduke.
I thank you for taking the time to consider this approach to a new system in the game.
Lol, chill with the formality, we are on a gaming forum.
I do like the idea though. It would require people to think about what path they take. The main reason why people are bored is because the game requires no thought, combined with tedious leveling. It is the equivalent of sorting screws all day (or farming for radiants all day....).
