Doesn't forums have rules against bumps? So I've noticed a lot of people randomly bump posts like every day, which seems extremely repetitive. Is there like a tacit rule on the amount of bumping one can do.
What is considered a good amount of bumping?

I've never seen the no-bumps rule enforced, but I assume that it's only if it gets out of hand and in general discussions etc. Like if we were having a discussion and you bumped it for like a week solid after no one wants to discuss your thread any more.
Other forums like Bazaar seem to be unregulated with regards to this and that makes sense to me. If you're still selling the thing there's no reason for you to not bump it whenever it falls off the first page. That's healthy, honestly, as long as you're not bumping it once every five minutes to make sure it's 100% top thread or something.
As far as I can tell, there are no rules against bumping threads in the Terms of Service, but the player base frowns on it. Sometimes bumping can do a service to the community, by keeping a really useful resource visible. That's why we have sticky threads, too.
But usually players bump their threads so that they get more exposure than other players' threads. That's a selfish and arguably sociopathic act. The same goes for purposely cross-posting threads. The same goes for deliberately posting a thread in the wrong forum and leaving a shadow copy when moving it. It's a big statement of "I deserve special treatment, above other players." Perhaps not all players feel as strongly about it as I do, however.
