So, wow I've never really posted on a forum before...huh.. Oh yeah the idea.

My idea for GH to kinda, make everyone happy with some new content that is, or should be...If the files weren't scrapped. Is for them to re-release the shrine to sleep tilesets, so that they can technically release some new content, without doing the work that comes from making new tiles and making a bunch of maps....

Ooooh, another idea I have is bow weapons! Just hear me out, they would be two handed as in no shield. (The pros dont use em anyways) They could deal more damage than guns or even swords though have an ammo system.
Each charged attack would consume 1 arrow(max arrows would change depending on the teir of the bow, 5 for 1, 10 for 2, and 15 for 3), while the non-charge attack would be a series of kicks and bowhits, that wouldnt deal alot of damage but have higher knockback.
If you'd have no arrows 1 would return every 30seconds,(ehhh time is debatable) though you would not get any more than 1 free arrow, so you'd be at 1/15 arrows.
They'd have two teirs of charge, teir 1 just shoots an arrow, the arrow itself being different depending on the bow, and teir2 would do a....basicly fire a lot of your arrows and do a cooler thing!
Melee attacks with the bow would cause enemies to sometimes drop arrows when they get hit.
Umm, whatelse....Oh yeah, the bows would deal half piercing damage, though would have enough damage to kinda...make them still useful vs the monsters that resist it, I'm looking at you jellies! exexpt the full-pierce bow, that would suck vs jellies.

Anyways, thats a couple of the ideas I have. I understand that game devs probably have a million and 1 ideas for their game, though I wanted to share these 2.

Update, 5/16/2016

Alright so first off, the reason I am updating the first post instead of just adding comments. Its well...So that you can see whatever ideas i finally decide to write down immediately instead of having to search for em.

So the new idea for this addition? Teir 4.

The whole idea i had with teir 4 is that not only would gear have better stats, they would also provide unique bonuses depending on the item, the goal being that you would want to mix-match armor to get a different play style.
There will probably be some concerns, IE, this is the same as battle sprites, or...i dunno that the idea is stupid for some supposedly well thought out reason that i will probably not heed because of my idea seeming way to cool and that whatever i am saying is somehow different than the well thought out point you bring up.
Some examples of this would be, and i will provide a short list format.

Cobalt: The Cobalt armors would provide aura-style buffs to any ally near you, to kinda play as the group leader role, no matter what you would always want a cobalt knight on your team. Buffs would be split between the Helm,Armor, and Shield. Helm giving a offensive buff(the damage up buff). While the armor would give the defense up buff. The shield would give a buff that gives more shield regen to your team.

Skelly set: The skelly sets would make you into a necro overlord! The helm would cause your attacks to mark an enemy to take more damage by you and your minion's attacks. While the armor whould cause the deaths of nearby monsters to spawn friendly skeletons to attack your enemies! While the shield would cause incoming hit to spawn friendly souls to attack!

Iron might: The Ironmight would make you into an unstoppable deadnaut...or at least a more traditional tank. The helm would limit the length of statuses, cause ya know ya gotta be there for yer buddies. The armor would reduce incoming damage by %25 before mitigation, though cause enemies to target you over your allies. The shield would work like the lockdown shield, though not give you healing.

Armor of the Fallen: The AOF armor would...Ya know it works as a theme...i'll just have to tell you its stuff. The helm would cause you to heal a portion of shadow damage you deal, nothing absurd though. While the Armor would add a portion of damage you deal as shadow damage, effectively even if you're fighting constructs you would still deal a little more damage than usual.

So those are the examples. i could think of more given time.. So come at me Fangel!...No really, you brought up some interesting points.....

BLARGH

Welcome to the Forums!

This would better fit in the suggestion subforum, so expect a GM to move it there soon.
As for your ideas, they are a great start, but need some development.

Glad to see you around! ~Z

aaand in my domain now

Welcome to the suggestions subforum, where we tell you your thoughts are meh and unoriginal!

Nah I'm just being silly. But there is a bit of truth to that comment - bringing back sleep is a suggestion that comes around every so often. The sleep status on knights is sort of broken and glitchy at the moment, so most of us would prefer a revamp to the status before we see its level set come back.
Additionally if those levels are brought back we'd need to have arsenal stations added to the start of them. A glitch in the system post battle sprites was that we had the shrine of slumber show up in the random gate rotation, but it wasn't updated at all since it was removed. They removed it again after noticing the mistake.

As for bows, that's another suggestion that's been thrown out before. One big "no-no" for weapons is removing your shield for any reason because shields are critical to high level play. Almost all "dual wielding" suggestions say "more weapon, less shield!", but fail to understand the fundamentals behind the shield's place in the game.
On top of that, an ammo system is meh.

When creating a new weapon type, it's always a good idea to ask yourself "could the same thing be done with one of our weapon types as is?". More often than not, yes, it is. People have called for throwing knifes when we could have them be a dagger melee weapon with a ranged charge attacks. The bow you suggest is essentially a magnus with no shield plus an ammo system on top of it that isn't like anything else we have in the game.

@Fangel

Just out of curiosity, what would need to change about sleep to be brought back?

sleeeeep

As it stands, sleep is just a cheaper version of freeze. Once inflicted, you are immobile, unable to attack or do anything until it wears off, and heal at like, half a heart per second after 2 seconds. The animation is buggy (playing the /sleep animation, but constantly trying to activate it, making the player twitch awkwardly).

Plenty of changes have been suggested for making sleep more well, interesting. My favorite suggestions have been:

  • You knight becomes drowsy, and is on a timer before actually falling asleep. Movement is slowed while drowsy.
  • When you lose a certain percentage of health, you will immediately wake up from sleep and be immune to sleep for X seconds.
  • While asleep, you can mash the attack button to wake yourself up quicker. If you wake up via this method you will be slowed and not heal from being asleep.
  • Friendly knights can pick up knights who have fallen asleep like a statue, moving them out of danger until they wake up.

Plenty of ways to make sleep more of a status that's not just "freeze - the annoying version". Even if they kept the status the same was as before, the animation being buggy needs to be fixed.

This is a really fun idea :D

I just died at the 'friendly knights can pick up sleeping knights' idea. The mental image. I CAN'T STOP, MY SIDES.

Totem Time!

Picking up team-mates is simply brilliant and could be used to take advantage of the healing factor.
- Low health? "Dude, I take a nap and you carry me around for a while."
I could even be used for helping less experienced players getting across a series of traps safely.

Even better: The /sleep command in dungeons inflicts a less-severe sleep status on users, that can wake up by simply moving around.
This method does not grant healing, but still allows the player to be carried around

Wow, didn't expect that many people to comment on the post.

Yeah again, subject line. Anways, I guess i didn't get some points across accurately for the bows at least.
The main concept I had for the bows was that you wouldn't have access to your shield while swapped to the bow, so it would just be on your back, sorta like when you pick up statues. The other point was that the bows would outclass everything else in terms of damage but be limited by requiring ammo.

Thanks for the feedback though.

Other than that I've always hated when games remove content for whatever reason, kinda just wanted to experience the shrine to sleep.

eh

Shrine of slumber wasn't all that exciting tbh. It's pretty much just a lichenous lair with sleep and enemies that can't merge.

The bow is still sort of meh. Making "one weapon that's better than everything else" is sort of a problem. It's not a problem because it's dealing so much damage, but in the same amount of time that you'd be waiting to fight again you could have charged 6 brandishes, done 20 hammer dashes, swung 18 times with a sealed sword, etc. When you limit the combat effectiveness of a weapon, all other weapons will outclass it. When you make a new power weapon, it outclasses everything. You're trying to put both on one weapon when it should just be designed like any one weapon instead of some new fabled thing.

Also I'm glad people liked that sleep idea. I've been sleep deprived lately and just sort of pulled that out of my brain because I wanted another example.

oh god, not another T4 suggestion.

tier 4 is a terrible idea. to not make gear horribly unbalanced by giving just a few items 6* and 7* variants, you would have to give pretty much all gear 6* and 7* variants. do you know how much gear there is in the game?
also, you would make people craft up all their current items. this would disrupt the economy to a terrible degree. also, upgrading would be insanely expensive under current rules. first you need 453 radiants to heat to lvl 10, then you need 6* orbs which would cost double of 5* orbs, then you need a couple hundred 6* fire crystals and 7* orbs, which would cost even more, quadruple of 5* orbs and then you need probably thousands of 7* fire crystals, which would be even rarer than radiants and even more expensive. that would be upwards of fifteen bucks PER ITEM only from orb costs.
if you instead nerf 5* item cost, you are gonna piss off a LOT of vanguards , you know, the people that still play despite the lack of content.

mhmm

Neueragon pretty much parroted everything I have to say about a "tier 4". In this case, "more" is not necessarily "better". Look at the gunner update and tell me that the "more is better" attitude made it better or worse.

Enter subject line here.

So anything other than it going up to 4 that you actually have against it?

<insert title>

You see, we already have a kinda Tier 4 with shadow lairs. Harder than any other T3 thing, yes, but still T3.
Also, introducing a T4 would divide up Lockdown players even more. And that's just bad.
Plus: I'd like to think we need not mention power creep, but here goes.
Power creep.
