Hi everyone, there are a few questions that I would like to ask here on the forum. I am currently running with the Glacius and Volcanic pepperbox lines (Both of which are 4 star right now). Since both of these weapons utilizes their powerful charge attacks, I was considering getting a CTR armor(like chaos), but I still don't know which one to use and it would be very helpful if someone can suggest one (or to suggest not to use one). Another question is which option is the best when it comes to heating up your weapons, until now I have been using the 2nd and 3rd options. And finally how much does status resistance/weakness affects the status, because I wanted to try the chaos set. I know this is a lot of questions in one post, but it would be great if someone will answer these for me, thanks :)
Help with Gear and Heating
There are 2 main options you can choose from:
- make the chaos set, which will give vh ctr (and dmg) for every weapon type. Having -4 points total for each status, they'll last for 13 seconds, so you don't wana get hit. But that's the point of glasscannon sets like the chaos: having the potential for a LOT of dmg, while being vulnerable yourself. But if you learn how to dodge effectively, it's the 2nd best set out there (after the black kat, but that's harder to get [and not just for beginner players]).
- make a defensive set, like vog, grey owlite, with focus modules, the trinkets. This will require you having trinket slot upgrades, though.
You could try making one of the thirsty six 5* gunner sets, all of them give med gun ctr and med gun asi with either med gun dmg, or vh dmg vs 1 of the 6 monster family types. Keep in mind however, all of the gunner sets have resistance vs one status, and negative res vs another, so they are situational, and would require you having more of them if you want to cover all areas, plus they only give boost to guns, so your blazebrand wouldn't get any extra bonuses.
The seerus mask, from the downloadable content, operation crimson hammer, gives ctr med and asi low for guns, if you have access to it, you should consider using that.
(You didn't mention having bombs, but the volcdemo and mad bomber sets give vh ctr to bombs. The mad bomber is almost the same as the chaos set, though, it has no curse negatives -which rarely matters- and only gives vh ctr + dmg to bombs, so no real point in making it.
The volcdemo is a good save option for bombers on the other hand.
The kat helms also give ctr low to bombs, but making any kat gear other than the black is a waste.)
Keep in mind, that lvl 10 4* weapons do damage more than 5* weapons below lvl 8, so if you won't have enough rads to heat them up, leave your weapons at 4* for the time being. (if, for nothing else, to keep their ctr med from being at lvl 10).

I have a detailed armor guide that explains your options. Yes, you should try one piece of Chaos armor. I think that you will like the effect and get the other.
And finally how much does status resistance/weakness affects the status, because I wanted to try the chaos set.
You can read the pages about status effects on the wiki. They don't go into a lot of detail. (Improving them is one of my long-term projects, but they need a lot of work.) With Chaos you will suffer noticeably more from the bad statuses: fire, shock, and freeze. So you have to be good at dodging. Or you could get status UVs on your Chaos. Or you could pair Chaos with a more defensive armor such as Perfect Mask of Seerus.
Another question is which option is the best when it comes to heating up your weapons, until now I have been using the 2nd and 3rd options.
If you're trying to heat using as few fire crystals as possible, then the medium chances are better on average. For example, heating a 5-star item on 100% chances requires 453 fire crystals, while heating a 5-star item on medium chances requires an average of 420 fire crystals. (Some players will get lucky and spend fewer than 420; some will get unlucky and spend more than 420.)
However, some players cannot handle the disappointment of sometimes having a forging fail. So they prefer to use 100% chances and never be disappointed, even though it means that they're spending 50% extra on each forging. Also, 100% chances give you a small chance at a Forge Prize Box, and it might give you better chances at other forge bonuses. We don't have detailed data on that.
