New Shield for Bombers: Bomb Sack

As it stands now, we have shields that are great for great for swordsmen (Dark Thorn Shield) and great for gunslingers (Swiftstrike) but we don't have really good bomb shields. Sure, you could use Grey Owlite, or Skelly, but those are just standard shields. We need a shield that has bonuses for bombs.
My proposition is the Bomb Sack. It wouldn't give traditional bonuses, like Bomb CTR/Damage, but it would offer bomb utility. It's a 3* shield like Swiftstrike, offering about the same amount of defense as Swiftstrike would. When you shield bump, the shield bump would do some amount of damage, so you can finish off enemies with very low health instead of having to charge another bomb.

The shield would also have a completely unique shield bash. Instead of a typical bash, you have a bomb barrage. Activating the shield bash would cause your knight to, after a small windup, toss a volley your equipped bomb in front of them similar to how a Gremlin Demo would (Not the bomb cluster, but tossing a bunch of bombs one at a time). These bombs would have no charge time needed, but it still has fuse. It would also be a cooldown based system, rather than a shield health system (possibly 15 seconds cooldown). This has very obvious benefits for bombers, like being able to inflict mass status or barrage cornered enemies with Big Angry Bombs. If paired with a Shard Bomb, (assuming invinciticks were removed, plugging my old thread here) it would create a massive minefield for the monsters ahead. I don't feel like this would be too overpowered, considering Swords have things like Brandish charges on a much shorter cooldown.

IDEA 2: Reactive Plate (credit to Sir-Pandabear)
The Reactive Plate would be a shield with a special shield bash. Pressing the shield bash button with a fully charged bomb would store it on your shield, and would immediately blow up when your shield is broken. Gives BAB new utility as an emergency escape tool. Maybe he multiple branches to 5*, for status or damage resist.

Eh

Shield bump doing shield bash damage is alright, I can be down with that.

I would however have shield bash be something usable for all classes, not just bombers. Swiftstrike is helpful for all classes after all. This shield could drop 4 small bombs at the end (think: statusless mecha knight charge attack) in a plus formation. These would deal normal damage equal to that of a deconstructor, and thus should be a 4* shield. Can pretty much have the same defense as a 4* shield, but resists normal damage only.

Shield bashing into a group of enemies to get those bombs out is basically asking to be damaged, and if used on a single enemy just seems like its too slow.

You are experiencing a PICNIC ERROR!

If you don't have a bomb equipped, you just bash instead. Simple.

hmmm

idk.... sounds a bit OP... maybe a shield back that creates a quick and weak chain of explosions as you travel forward to push enemies further back with more damage than a regular shield bash.

Why not have the shield capable of treating bombs like enemies and bumping them around.... this would make bombing a medium range class. No longer would you need to get up close and personal to deal damage, just place a bomb and give it a quick kick into a crowd. Of course you'd only be able to bump your own bombs.

By bumping the bombs into a crowd, are you saying shield bump can bump bombs? I LOVE that idea, but only if the shield bump also does damage, for a quick finisher.

gah

When you add something that should be a weapon thing to a shield, then you're doing shield things wrong.

Why not a spiked shield? When you block an attack, enemies in front of you would be hurt by the thorns. Shield bash would hit 3 times, deal more damage, but less knockback. This adds a unique behavior to the shield, but requires it to be used as a shield.

New unique behaviors that need another requirement to be met should not exist in the first place. Tortoshields do not need a tortogun to do their unique shield bash. Swiftstrike does not need certain weapons to attack faster. As such, this shield should be good on its own, but just fill in a gap in a bomber's arsenal, not augment it.

Additionally:
"Shield bashing into a group of enemies to get those bombs out is basically asking to be damaged, and if used on a single enemy just seems like its too slow."

If you're shield bashing into a group of enemies as a bomber, then clearly you have forgotten about the weapon in your hand, and if you want a shield to be as powerful as a weapon, then you've forgotten that a shield is for preventing damage, not dealing it.

I have at least a dozen ideas for a bomb Shield.
