(Yes, the title is a LeafyIsHere reference)

So, recently there was a Spiral Knights wedding.

A goddamn wedding.

A wedding between Queen-Tender and Kingtinkinzar in the Tinkering Gremlins guild hall and it was almost as cringy as 'All the single furries'. Maybe even cringier because I actually play this game. Why TF are people having weddings in this game? I mean honestly, it is highly unnecessary and just brings trolls (like moi) to the guild hall.

Anyway, those are my simple opinions on this game and what it has become.
(and if you read this Kingtink, fite me)

ehh

No reason to make it out like it's the worst thing ever. Let people have their fun.

Granted openly advertising such a thing makes it feel more like a show than an actually bonding, but if it was supposed to be a cute little knight-run event so be it.

Maplestory?

lol, I do agree that sounds super silly. Reminds me of other RPGs like Maplestory where you can do that sort of thing. Even in that game it's super silly.

Uh, throw it on the people you defeat in PvP, eat it, throw it on random people in Haven, or something? I dunno.

Oh, I've seen ingame weddings occur in many games. It's not unusual, to say the least.

I remember donating a sloop

I remember donating a sloop to a wedding in puzzle pirates for them to go sink. This is pretty standard for MMOs.

Well

As it stands, marriages are not an official feature in SK (re maplestory). This alone means that it's not supported by the devs due to a pretty large amount of reasons and implications that go along with the concept of marriage. plus the fact that SK centers around an Order of knights and a mission to return home. All the social features are up to the players.

While a large-scale, organized faux wedding is extremely unnecessary, it's largely inconsequential, being merely a social event that people have the choice of participating in, and was performed out of the public eye.

also do yourself a favor and hop off leafy's ████.

In my opinion

Personally I find the cringiest people in communities are those who act like completely inconsequential events like an ingame wedding are some kind of horrific thing that just has to be trolled and publicly shamed. If you actually take honor in riding Leafy's ████ and essentially publicly harassing people who just want to have fun in a game, you're a disgusting person.

Cringy? Have you tried having a real wedding?

Here are some expenses that might come from marrying someone you met on the Internet:

  • Wedding rings. No matter the state of your economy, this will always cost just a bit more than you can afford.
  • Plane tickets to literally the other side of the world.
  • Hotel expenses.
  • A huge amount of vacation time.
  • Tailored suit and dress.
  • Renting a giant room for an afternoon.
  • Food and catering for hundreds of people.
  • Being stuck at an airport wearing shorts and sandals for three days because the area has a record-setting snowstorm in April.
  • Dowry.
  • Standing on a stage for six hours under floodlights with no food and water overlooking a banquet with air conditioning while people come up to shake hands and take pictures in handfuls.
  • Catching new and exotic diseases.
  • Weeks of food and entertainment during your stay. You're out of the country, so the only valid kinds of entertainments are the ones where you go places and see new things or at the very least visit a museum.
  • Regular payments to the local mafia for entering pizza restaurants on their turf.

I would take being cringeworthy if it could mean avoiding all that. Unfortunately, Spiral Knights weddings are not legally recognised and wouldn't help much, but you could still do a small-scale formal wedding after the fact without all the ceremony to cover that bit.

I still can't tell if people legitimately got married or if this is a joke. I guess to each their own....? Marriages don't mean much anyways since most end up divorced. I hope KT signed a prenup.

Fr tho, if they are happy, congrats....?

Well, it's not like she can

Well, it's not like she can steal half of your stuff anyway because there is no legal system in this game. If there was, I'd be in jail for life for how many people I have harrassed in LD :P
