Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure everyone would be happy with this.
Is there a chance of half HP reviving coming back?
Sorry for not looking for previous threads, but I mainly asked this because of the new devs. Maybe they have some plans in mind or something and they would be willing to share. If there are threads with that same idea already, I may as well delete this one.
You're living in the past. The SK you knew will never return, but the SK now hs a solid team behind it, so new changes are to come. Don't fear change :)
Regardless of whether or not half-HP revival is brought back, I would like to see team-revival inplemented in a way that's not as expensive as Sparks.
I agree. Nowadays I just restart the mission if I die since I'd rather not waste a spark, and when playing with someone you either waste one or wait the entire level and then have a disadvantage the next one by not having the emergency revival.
I would've said 'No this is not gonna happen' earlier but I didn't feel like it.
I expected Cronus to shove this to suggestions by now but whatever.
P.S. plz don't smite me cronus
Probably not since they removed the related achievement from Steam.
That's the point. If revival were cheap, then death wouldn't matter much. The fact that you are refraining from an available option shows that revival has value, and therefore sparks have value, and death is feared and avoided.
Not to mention, while team revivals back then made carrying and heating much easier, it reduced and crippled overall team health. When everyone's down to half a pip of health left, it pretty much becomes a "his/her turn, your turn" thing.
If it were to get reimplemented, I'd say make it more like it is on Castle Crashers; players can quickly revive others for diminished results (barely 20% health), but when combat is over, fallen players can be restored to a large amount of health (55 - 75%).
However, players should be limited to how many times they can be revived with this method, as it'll make carrying waaaaay too easy then. I'd say they have an emergency revive (like they do now), and 1 - 3 additional teammate revives, depending on the tier they're in. In Tier 1, players will have 3 additional revives if in a party; in Tier 2, they'd have 2, and Tier 3, they'd have only 1. This way, players can begin to adapt and change their playstyle (like they should) as they progress, and learn to avoid mistakes and deaths more often.
It'll bring back nostalgia without any real risks to follow.
Really, there are many ways to implement a different revive system into the game.
I'd like to see more use of the rarity system with a new revive item called a "life essence". Basically, a teammate-only ER. You activate it like old health revives. They would drop more often than sparks of life, and sparks of life themselves would become more scarce because of this.
Since these items can only be used on teammates, they have no personal redeemable value, so you'll use them willy-nilly unlike sparks. They don't penalize the team, require the user to be alive and over the body of the player, and don't mess with the current system in a negative way.
You might say "reducing spark drops is negative!" to which I say "you can be revived more often by teammates, less by yourself". More revives overall, but only when in teams.
As someone who primarily solos my way through Spiral Knights 'cause my internet literally doesn't like to handle other people in my parties (bandwidth problems OTL), I would support Fangel's idea of a 'life essence' thing. It wouldn't really benefit me as a soloer but it sure would help those who frequently go in parties, i.e. everyone else.
I'd like a system similar to cod zombies, in solo the actual emergency revive, but in party, the old system where people have to rev you with hp.
That's the point. If revival were cheap, then death wouldn't matter much. The fact that you are refraining from an available option shows that revival has value, and therefore sparks have value, and death is feared and avoided.
when you die and don't have the emergency revive, people just quit and start over... i still have the sparks i got through the misions and stuff and only used the ones i found in the clockworks...
i still hate the new UI and revival system... but i still keep playing the game from time to time but i'm not using/wasting/buying sparks ever...
So you're not using the free revives you have... So you'll have free revives later, but later you won't use the free revives because you might need them later...
This feels like a heavy amount of "i might need it later" syndrome. The fact that people value an item they find for free in the clockworks over the continuation of the run is more like they're punishing themselves for dying twice in a level than the game is punishing them. That's on the player, not the game. The current system is fine, however doesn't encourage team-based plays.
You're wrong. Being forced to cripple yourself because of terrible teammates was a stupid addition, and only encouraged alt dragging and beggars.
To be honest, this topic is brought up nearly half a million times, and with (sort of) mixed results.
I highly doubt it'll ever be reimplemented into the game really, though personally I'd like it if it didn't show up again. But that's just me.
