There is a way to get mounts without making Haven-sized landscapes.
New Slot: Mount.
This would allow you to equip a Mount.
All you can put there is a Mount Key.
New Item: Mount Key.
You would get them via Brinks.
Mounts will not have a speed boost, but a special Dash and Shield Bash.
Feel free to add Mount Weapons that come with the Mount
They have the following Mounts:
Frumious Fang: Snarblepup Mount (puts you on a baby Snarbolax (Dash: Wolver Dash)(Shield Bash: Burrow)(Mount Weapons: Snarble Barb (Sword), Spine Cone (Bomb)))
Jelly Gem: Giant Lichen Colony (Puts you on a big, red, spiked Lichen (Dash: Same as always)(Shield Bash: Dash, but the Lichen swells up and becomes nigh unstoppable (but your shield DIES))(Mount Weapons: Lichen Blade (Sword, Snarble Barb remix with main attack being similar to Troika charge attack), Lichen Bomb (Bomb, Spine Cone remix)))
Roarmulus Twins Token: A miniature Roarmulus Twin as a Mount (puts you on a miniature Roarmulus Twin on wheels (Dash: Rockets forwards, generating a stunning soundwave behind you)(Shield Bash: Dashing with a forcefield (Again, your shield DIES))(Weapons: Rocket Launcher (Gun with a Scuttlebot summon Charge like the Mecha Knight Kit), LASER (Bomb))
Lord Vanaduke Token: Vog Cub Mount (puts you on a Vog Cub (Dash: Fire Version of Snarblepup's Dash)(Shield Bash: Fiery Burrow)(Weaponry: Fang Of Vog (Sword)))
Nature Spark (Maybe): Chromalisk/Salamander (Puts you on a giant Chromalisk/Salamander (Salamander might instead be Forge Spark, you decide if you add this and decide that generic Tokens)(Dash: Jump)(Shield Bash: see Recon shield, but as a bash (SHIELD MURDER))(Weaponry: Chroma Tongue (Bomb), Chroma Spit (Bomb)))
Time To Put A Chair On A Monster And Ride It As A Mount
The weapons I am suggesting are the weapons that are part of the mount. Either you transform into the Mount (unorthodox) or you just placidly move the Mount (orthodox).
Don't let Spiral Knights become Word of Warcraft!
World of Warcraft's mounts, and you actually move faster on them, too. WoW's mount system would not equal SK's.
This doesn't fit the spirit of Spiral Knights.
...Nothing in suggestions ever comes true.
Watch someone prove me wrong with a suggestion from a million seconds ago.
...Nothing in suggestions ever comes true.
The custom guild halls were a suggestion. So were pets. They were suggested by tons of people.
Personally, I think it would look quite comical, and, as mentioned, wouldn't really fit with the theme of the game.
I think mounts should be ingame, but limited in some sense.
Their attack power should equal the weapon you currently have equipped, with each mount having sword/gun/bomb attacks.
For example:
A player equips an Adolescent Snarbolax Mount, roughly the size of the Guild Hall second-version Snarbolax trophy.
The player is shown as either riding or standing atop the mount.
Movement Speed is the same. Hitboxes are still centered on the player, but are affected by the size of the Mount. For instance, a large mount, like a Giant Lichen Colony, would give the player a health bonus.
Melee Attack Variations:
An Adolescent Snarbolax Mount would display the following animations for a melee attack:
GENERIC LIGHT ATTACK (brandish, calibur, cutter)- A Bite attack, with the same speed, knockback, etc as the sword used
GENERIC HEAVY ATTACK (Troika, Sealed Sword)- A Bite attack, followed by a spinning attack
HAMMER ATTACK- A Bite attack, followed by a dash, then a spinning attack
BRANDISH LINE CHARGE- A spinning attack that precedes thorns jutting out from the ground in a fashion mirroring a Brandish charge
TROIKA LINE CHARGE- A charged-up bite attack following a second, explosive red bite attack
I'm missing a lot of stuff here, but the bottom line is that Mounts would be extensively difficult to code.
See monster mounts in the clockworks would be unnecessary, unhelpful, and in general, not in the spirit of the game.
However, monster mounts as it stands isn't a bad idea. I wrote up a coliseum game based on the idea of monster mounts in the past. Might be worth a read over if you haven't been on here for a few years.
I wouldn't mind a Haven mount mechanic tbh. What we really need in terms of the Clockworks, however, are more styles of walking (quadripedal, flying, etc). Wings are technically their own "mount".
Simply use a Ultimate Evo Catalyst once your mount has reached Level 111 or above on your battle sprite and you shall get a riding spite.
Drakon: Whyvern, the wyvern riding sprite. appears to be a featherless Deinonychus with wings, complementary stripes similar to a tiger's, and a long horn on it's nose. Whyvern is a mount you ride like you would ride a Forgefur.
Spiralhorn Maskeraith: Spiralhorn, the ram riding sprite. Has an extra horn on their head armor. You ride this one like the mount is a mighty steed.
Spiraltail Drakon: Forgefur, the tiger wolf riding sprite. Looks similar to a Volcanic reskin of Garurumon. Has a big beard and a monkey-like tail. You ride this mount in the position of a motorcyclist in a race. (I could not think of a good monkey mount.)
Seraphynx: Gryphone, the gryphon riding sprite. Has big katana-like whiskers. You ride a Gryphone like you ride a Spiralhorn.
Maskeraith: Trishadowtops, the three-horned riding sprite. Is a Maskeraith remix of Triceratops. You ride this mount elephant-style.
I dont know how anyone is supposed to deftly move and swing a sword while on a mount but okay.
But it's your suggestion so I won't judge your questionable idea.
